Two weeks later, I attend Carter's birthday party, bringing along Scarlett with permission from both sets of parents of course. Sierra was so happy that I thought of Scarlett, that she actually cried when I asked her privetly if Scar could attend with me after asking permission from the Parkers.

Driving Scarlett and I to the trampoline place where the Parkers rented out the entire place for the time of the party; Scar and I walk inside as I hold her hand and carry the present from her and I in the other; I ended up buying Carter a couple of his favorite action figure - Superman and a couple of accessories to go with it from Scarlett and myelf.

Entering the building it wasn't as loud as I feared it would be and for that I am thankful for Scarlett and Carter's well being. Walking inside, the woman employee greets Scar and I as I tell her we here for the party for Carter Parker. Directing us to the area we needed to be I thank her as we head that way. Dad and Leif couldn't make it as dad had clients all day and Leif was needed to help work with a couple of the horses.

"Legacy!" I hear Carter yell befor crashing into my legs. Stumbling back a step, I catch myself and squat down in front of him and hug him with the arm that's holding his gift as I glance at Scarlett, who is fine thankfully and smiling brightly at Carter and I.

"Hi Carter, I hope you don't mind me bringing Scarlett along, she's 10 years old and a very nice girl. Your dad's said it was alright for her to come with me, she also works with me," I tell him quietly not to embarress either of them.

Carter beams brightly at Scarlett, who smiles right back at him. "Hi Scarlett, nice to meet you," he says formally holding his hand out for her; she takes it but instead gently hugs Carter, who hugs right back surprising not only me but Cole and David who are now by us.

"Nice to meet you too, Carter," Scarlette says quietly before her and Carter back away from each other with smiles as her and Carter go off to play with the other kids who are there.

"You didn't have to bring a gift, it was enough you came and brought Scarlett," David says as I place the bag on the table.

"Nonesense, the present is from Scarlett and I and we're happy to be here and bring a gift," I tell him with a shrug and a smile as I watch Scarlett out of the corner of my eye.

The three of us talk about anything and everything except therapy which is nice since this is outside of the ranch. As the time apporaches for Carter to be sung too and open gifts and have cake, Sinclair finally arrives. I would have been in trouble with dad if I treated Leif this way on his birthday. I understand that there is a 10 year age gap but Carter still is his little brother.

A couple of hours later, the party is ending, I head out with Scar after we said our goodbyes to the entire Parker family; yes I was polite and even said goodbye to Sinclair even if I was irritated with him for the stunt he pulled on Carter a couple of weeks ago. I hope one day Sinclair and I can move past this whole irritation with each other and be civil.

Pulling into the drive of the ranch, I spot Sierra's car parked near the house; I had called her to let her know we were leaving the party. Parking the truck, Scar and I climb out as she grabs her goodie bag from the party with a enormous smile on her lips.

"Mama, that was so much fun!" Scarlett squeals out as she runs toward her mom, who happily smiles as she scoops her into her arms as Scarlett launches herself at her mom.

"That's great baby, did you tell Legacy, thank you for taking you to Carter's party?" Sierra asks with such a loving tone that my heart clenches that I wish my mom would love me and Leif like that.

Scarlett nods excitidly at her as she quickly hugs me again before her and her mom leave. "See you Tuesday, Scarlett!" I tell her as they leave and she grins and waves back quickly.
