Keiths POV

We had all left from the common room and hunk pidge matt and I were hanging out in the workshop while the three of them worked on some motor. Shiro and lance were talking about something important so I stayed out of that.

Then the explosion came we learned later on that it was from the altean we found in the robot that attacked earth when we first heard it hunk and pidge called in at the garrison they told us to leave the building as soon as possible we grabbed our stuff and left.

When we got outside the entire place was surrounded by fire trucks and smoke sirens were so loud we could barely hear ourselves think. Pidge and Matt ran off to go find their parent promising to come back we ran into Shiro who looked the most stressed I've ever seen him, which is saying something.

shiro grabbed onto a firefighters arm " Paladin Lance is still in that building we need to get him out of there" lance was still in there I thought he was with Shiro.

pidge and hunk ran up and started asking questions but all I could do is look at the flames the same kind of flames that took my dad away were going to take lance away to. I couldn't let that happen I started to walk toward the building, But Shiro grabbed my arm and pulled me into a hug "Keith, Lance is strong we now that but if he can't survive this I'm can't lose you two" Shiro rarely spoke like this and he knew I was never the fond of hugs.

so  we stood there the fear and char around us till the awful news came when chief went up to us and told us that part of the building where Lance was had collapsed so it wasn't likely he survived hunk the strongest one  of us crumbled and pidge who had just returned was in shock sitting on the pavement and wiping tears with her sleeve "Lance come on man you got to be ok" Lance, gone it couldn't be real he was the soul of Voltron without him there weren't happy times to look back on he was apart of our family I guess I was on the ground now Shiro with me and his arm around me back I looked once more at the flames to see a silhouette of a person there .

shiro saw him so he called out to an ambulance and ran over "Lance!" hunk pidge and Alurra ran over to him he was half dead a gash on his hand and blood on his face he was holding his cousin Marco who was taken first. but the difference with Lance was his eyes there was always a spark in them a sort of light these ones were dark and sunken.

He collapsed into Shiro's arms and Veronica came over as soon as she did Shiro lifted lance up and brought him to the ambulance which took all of us to a hospital a city away so there we were all in in the back of an ambulance with a bleeding lance and hunk with shaking hands that had the blood of his friend on them so did Shiro the front of his uniform had his blood on it to. I couldn't look at Lance please god save him.

When we at the hospital they started working on him add all the chaos of people rushing and new ambulances dropping of more injured people. it felt like some nightmare. Aliens who were on earth helped and we all just sat there waiting in the lobby for news.T

The next morning they told us he was in a coma they had no idea when he'd wake up and this was one of the first times I saw Shiro release his hands were shaking but he still had that determined face like he needed to be our rock. when we went into the room  we set up stuff and just waited Shiro went back and forth to the garrison but we mainly stayed at the hospital were later we found out that lances father had died 

now we knew why Lance had looked so broken his family visited his mother prayed that hed wake up his sisters still grieving over  there dad I just want things to go back to the way they were. as the weeks went b lance was getting better and had out of his coma he barely opened his eyes before falling back asleep. 

things were different every one stuck close let's just say there were a lot of sleepovers. Then he woke up,

And locked himself in his room I wasn't surprised I did the same thing when my dad died. we visited but he never opend up we slid letters and sent food but to no prevail this wasn't are lance our lance smiled and loved being around people. Shiro later told the team about the conversation they had before the fire.

It was shocking I had thought that the stupid clone wasn't that bad, that the attack was its first sign of betrayal I can't help but blame myself, for leaving Voltron I could have stopped it.

recently I was leaving my room and bumped into lance I wasn't ready for that he was out of his room I wanted to talk more but he needed space as soon as he left I told pidge and hunk who was excited that maybe he was getting better, Maybe things could go back to before, We couldn't have been more wrong
