Tim was one of three cleaners in the store. The old woman arranged the displays. She also changed the dress of each manikin and applied the make-up. The old man cleaned the comfort rooms and windows while Tim cleaned the floors and the showcases.
The three worked at nigh to keep out of the way of the shoppers in the daytime. Tim slept after his whole night work. Before working he ate an early supper in the restaurant in the Bambang Market. He often ate with Adrian and Melvin who also patronized the same restaurant.
Tim had a hard time at first. He could not sleep in the light of day so he was sleepy during work hours. He had to endure the bad working conditions until he got used to the bad schedule. He needed to earn and save enough to pay for his studies in college.
Because the old man was not strong enough to carry the heavy load Tim had to bring each manikin to the dressing room once a week. Tim took Dina on Monday, Angela on Wednesday and Nora on Friday. He also took back each manikin after each one had been cleaned and made-up. After being cleaned and given fresh make-up each mannequin looked new and beautiful.
