I could get used to flying with Gabriel. Like, on a daily basis. In his arms, I felt warm and secure, like in my bed at home. I felt like I didn't have problems anymore. Even when we were flying above a forest of a different world of Greek mythologie and that my brain was struggling to process all of the information I had learned over the last 24 hours.
-Samael, Gabriel declared, breaking the comfortable silence that had taken its place between the tree of us, before we arrive to that bar Narcissus mentioned, I'd like you to promise that you'll behave well inside.
-Well I don't see why I should do such a thing, Samael countered. I didn't ask for a free trip in magical Greek land, buddy. So if I can ease my eternal suffering with a few shots of whatever they drink here, I will, despite anything your angelic ass has to say about it. Edith, I would be enchanted if you joined me.
-Don't, immediatly cut Gabriel. If you get drunk, not only will we use time, but you -or Samael- could let information slip. Like the fact that we are not supposed to be in this world and that an army of angels are after us !
-Boys ! I finally interrupted, carefully not taking a side in this ridiculous debate, we're here.
Indeed, below us, the forest was fading, replaced by a paved route which lead to a small building of the size of a cottage. A sign was hanging in front of the door, which read "the new Héloïse". The three of us landed and walked towards the wooden door. Surprisingly, even if, reading the position of the sun, the afternoon had just begun, a lot of noise was coming from the building, indicating that it was full.
-Well, what are we waiting for ? Asked Samael, pushing the door forward.
The inside...well, you could imagine a classic, old tavern. Now, picture the exact opposite. The inside was very modern, the tables made of dark glass and the chairs of a very soft-looking material. Of course, it was completly full of people -some of them not 100% human, half of their body goat-like, but nothing surprised me here anymore- drinking, talking, laughing...It wasn't that different from the parties at my university. The newcome familiarity of the situation naturally led me to push a few people out of our way to get to the bar, Gabriel and Samael following me.
-Oh my God, the demon suddenly exclaimed, is that James ?!
The barman, who had, up to this point, been facing the other way, turned around. He was blond, and looked not over 25 year old. The moment his eyes found Samael's face, his face lit up with a smile ;
-Samael ! Hi !
-What are you even doing here ?! Samael laughed, exchanging a handshake with him.
-You know, part-time job...
-Wait, I cut in, you know each other ? Samael, have you been in this world before ?
-Well yes, I know him, but no, I've never been here before. My mother took me with her to her workplaces a couple of time, and I saw James in quite some different locations. I wonder why you change places so much, James...
-Ah, that's a secret ! The barman laughed. The only thing I can say is that I go where I feel I have a role to play. But enough with the serious talk ! What do you want to drink, kids ?
-Nothing, Gabriel immediatly answered. We just want inform-
-Oh, cut it out, blondie, James smiled. You're young, you should make the most of it ! Here's a glass of ambrosia each. It's on me.
As soon as Samael got his hand on his glass, he emptied it, releasing a sigh of pleasure, while the angel and I just stared at the glasses.
-You should at least taste it, he said to us. Hospitality is a pretty big thing here, you know. It'd be impolite not to accept James' offer.
