-Hi. I know we don't know each other, and this is kind of coming out of nowhere, but I just wanted to tell you that I find you very cute, and I was wondering if you'd be up to grab coffee with me some day.

When I said these few words to the guy I have been taking the bus with for two weeks, after geathering a fuck ton of courage, the last reaction I expected from him was for him was to go back to looking at his phone. It removed all the shyness that I had kept inside of me and that was showing on my cheeks, and replaced it with anger.

-Hey ! Do you know how rude you are ?! I screamed, earning myself a few surprised looks from the other passengers on the bus. Seriously, you have the right to reject me, but to competely ignore me is really a dick move !

The boy finally looked up from his screen. And while I was still boiling out of spite in front of him, he looked to his right, then to his left, as if he was trying to figure out who the hell I was talking to. Which, of course, brought me to a superior state of anger.

-Yep champion ! I exploded while violently poking his chest with my finger. I'm talking to YOU ! Now, will I have the honor to hear at least one reply to my declaration, or is this going to be a total humiliation ?

He stared at my finger, then at me, then at my finger, then at me, and finally asked ;

-Are you...talking to...me ?

You thought someone couldn't nod their head angrily ? Think twice.

-No. No, no, no, he muttered, his face darkening.

-What ? I asked, my anger dissipating as I noticed how truly chocked he looked.

-You shouldn't be able to see me, he finally answered.

My first reaction was to laugh. Loudly.

-Nice try, buddy, I said through my giggles, but that will NOT get you out of that kind of akward situation...

-No, Edith, he interrupted, you're NOT supposed to see me. Look.

I was about to ask how he knew my name, but then I saw what he was talking about. All the other passengers of the bus were eyeing me weirdly. But not amused-weird, this-girl-is-crazy weird. Furthermore, when my eyes went back to the guy, I noticed, for the first time, that the "limitis" of his body were a bit transparent.

-What the...

-Oh shut up. Follow me.

Now his "follow me" became quite ironic a few seconds later as he grabbed my arms and forced me to follow him out of the bus, which had (thankfully) just opened its doors at a stop.

-...fUCK ?! I screamed while pulling my arm back.

-Listen, Edith, he declared calmly despit the fact that he just yanked me out of my bus, we have a problem here.

-Well no shit Sherlock ! How can I be the only one to see you ?! And what's up with that wobbly thing around you ?! And-

-Edith.

I calmed myself instantly.

-Let me explain, he sighed. I'm, uuuuuuh, you're...You know. Angel.

As a matter of fact, I did not know.

-What ? Is this a prank camera or something ?

-No. You know the guardian angels myth ?

-...Yeah ?

-Well...Ta-da...he mused while pointing at himself, then at me.

My brain went completely blank for a second.

Once the second was over, it was chaos inside. One side of it was yelling that this was completely impossible, and the other argued that I should at least consider his arguments. He had none. Except the fact that something inside me was whispering that he was telling the truth. However, I still had the decency to continue questioning him.

-Listen, hm...

-Gabriel.

-Gabriel. Of course. Listen, Gabriel, I find it very hard yo believe you right now. My guardin angel ? Really ? That's the best you could come up with ?

He sighed. Again. That was a lot of eye rolling.

-Ok. Ok ! You don't believe me ? You want proof ?

-Yes please, I mocked.

He looked at me for like 10 seconds, and basically jumped on me to touch...my eyes. Very gently.

-THE FUCK ?! I screamed (again) while pushing him away from me.

-I'm sorry, he genuily apologized, but you'd never let me I had asked.

-Of course not ! I-What.

All around me, the number of people had doubled. The same ones were still here, but new ones had appeared. Like Gabriel, they had a sort of a blurry blueish aura, and were standing more of less close to another person. I looked back at Gabriel in awe.

-They are...

-Guardian angels, yes, he smiled.

Something inside me seemed to fall intdo place. Like I always knew something like the existence of guardian angels was real, but that knowledge was locked. It was as if Gabriel had given me the key.

-But...I mumble, still under the shock of the revelation, if you're my guardian angel, how come I was able to see you from the start ?

His blue eyes darkened yet once again as he answered ;

-Well, that's the ugly part. Generally, the brain of a human will enable them to see their guardian angel as a mechanism of defense after they have been touched by the opposite of a guardian angel... The personal demon.

Once again, the words rang true in my ears. But this time, the feeling was more of a negative one.

-So...I continued, thinking, that means that this guy, my...personal demon, he...touched me ?

-Oh yes, Gabriel sighed (again). Actually, here's right over there.

I followed the direction he was pointing his finger too. My jaw dropped.
