Come by again today on your way? I texted Reeka the next Wednesday.
She had listened to me and texted me when she'd arrived to her aunt's house. We had texted back and forth a little that night, but that was it. I was extremely inclined to text her so many times over the course of the week, but I felt like I shouldn't. It would be weird. And if she was able to keep her cool, even though she was supposedly a big fan, then I should, too. But I wanted to spend time with her again and if she was gonna pass my house today, I wanted her to come in again. I wasn't sure if she was though, since it had been snowing this week and I didn't know if she was gonna walk in the snow. She took a very long time to reply and finally at 4pm she replied. Sure, I'll see you later, best hostess ;)
I laughed, as I read her message, and decided to be more prepared for a visitor this time. I went into my kitchen and filled up a pitcher with water. I took out a plate and put some cookies and pastries on it and I took out a small bowl with some candies. I placed it all on the coffee table by the couch and put two empty glasses down too. This way she couldn't refuse to take anything, since it was right there in front of her."Hi Demi," Reeka smiled, as I opened the door for her. She looked better then last week. She was getting closer to looking the way she looked the first few weeks I'd seen her and it made me happy. She still didn't look completely healthy, though. But it was definitely a step forward. I really wanted to ask her about it, but I decided it's still too early for that, so I sucked up my curiosity and let her in.
"Hi, come on in," I closed the door behind her and she didn't waste time to kick off her boots and sit on the couch.
"I hope I didn't bring any snow into your house," she commented, as she made herself comfortable. "And if I did then I guess I'll just have to blame you, since you invited me," she winked and I laughed as I sat back down next to her. "But seriously, if you want me to mop before I leave, I won't mind."
"Don't be ridiculous," I snorted. "You're not my cleaning lady, you're not gonna mop my floor. It's fine, don't worry about it," I smiled.
She pointed at the coffee table. "I see you are trying to live up to your name," she laughed and I figured she was referring to my contact name in her phone.
"I certainly am. Take something, it's free, I don't charge," I laughed, but like last week, she shook her head.
"No, thank you."
"Are you scared I poisoned it? If you want I can take a bite, to show you I won't die," I raised my eyebrows, but she kept shaking her head, as she laughed at my comment.
"I appreciate it. I really do, but I can't."
"Why not?" I couldn't help myself from asking.
"Special diet," she replied. "It's complicated." She was smiling as she was talking, but I got a bit of a weird vibe from this. I didn't wanna assume the worse though, so I decided to ask.
"I have all the time in the world, darling," I winked. "Text your aunt that you'll be late. Maybe you can even keep me company for dinner."
"No, I would love to, but I really can't. I don't eat outside of the house, I can't eat anything in your house, I'm not allowed to. I follow a complicated special diet and I can't even explain it to you, since I don't know exactly what it is. You'll have to ask my parents about it," she shrugged. "They've tried explaining it to me, but my mind didn't wanna get it yet. One day, when I have my own house I'll have to fully understand it, but for now I just follow whatever they tell me, they have it all figured out and know exactly what I can and can't have. They told my aunt and uncle, of course, cause now that I live in their house they need to have things I can eat. But I generally don't eat outside of the house."
