"Oh, how nice of you to open the door before I had to knock," Reeka laughed, as she walked into my house the following Wednesday.
We hadn't seen each other since we'd gone shopping together, but we had been texting back and forth the whole week and I felt like we definitely went a big step forward in this friendship or relationship, however you wanna call it.

"I try," I smirked, as I closed the door behind her and she made herself comfortable on the couch, after kicking off her shoes. I was fast to join her and sat down next to her. "So, how's your week been?" I asked.

"Great," she smiled. "How was yours? How's that album of yours coming along?"

"It's coming along quite well, thank you," I laughed. "You're dying to hear it, aren't you? That's the only reason you're asking."

She nodded. "I would say you caught me there, but I've literally told you a million times, so obviously you knew. But seriously, when do I get to hear your next masterpiece? I'll finally stop bugging you about it when I've heard it."

"I'll give you a preview once all the songs are recorded, okay? You'll be the first to hear the complete album."

"You promise?"

I smiled at her and nodded. "Promise," I confirmed and laughed at the excitement showing on her face. I wanted to remind her of her promise to tell me about her health issues, but I also didn't cause I didn't wanna push her. It had been on my mind a lot, though. I didn't just wanna know out of curiosity, I wanted to know because I was hoping that she hasn't been through anything horrible. But I had a feeling that she had and I just wanted to be sure that she was okay now.

"Did I ever tell you about my cousins?" She suddenly asked. "The ones who's house I live in?"

I shook me head. "Nope, you've never told me about any cousins, also not the ones you don't live by."

"I have a lot," she chuckled. "I don't even know half of them, actually. We grew up in different parts of the world and we didn't get to see each other very often, so I don't really know them that well. Until I came to the US, I hadn't even met half of them."

"How many do you have?"

"A lot. Like a lot a lot. My mother is one of twelve and my father is one of eight. And on my father's side, my family is the smallest, so all my other aunts and uncles have more then seven kids. On my mother's side, my family is on the bigger side, but that's because my mother is one of the oldest and her younger siblings are all still popping out babies," she laughed. "I'm not good at math, but if you are you can start counting," she smirked, but I shook my head.

"I think I get the picture," I laughed. "That is quite a lot. So you have like a huge family."

"Yep," she agreed. "On my mother's side I know most of them, cause they are younger and live closer by and we'd have reunions by my grandparents house, so we got to see them more often. But on my father's side I really don't know them all so well. I know a few families that grew up close enough to where we lived, but some of the others are like practically strangers. Besides for the blood and grandmother that we share, we literally have nothing in common."

"What about your grandfather?"

She shook her head. "He passed away two months before I was born. I never met him, I was the first grandchild born after he passed. My father really wanted me to be a boy so he could name me after his father and when I came out a girl he wanted to girlify my grandfather's name, but my grandmother told him not to, so he didn't. She told him he'll have another son, so he'll get another chance and he did," she laughed. "My younger brother is named after him."
