Sayori's P.O.V:

I was ready to take this risk.

I crept across the landing, feeling the weight of them against the floorboards. I peered over the banister, my heart pounding heavily in suspense. There was a long silence. I sighed, though there was no reason to feel relief. I knew that bastard was still there.

I pressed my foot against the first step, and visibly jumped as it creaked loudly.

Fuck.

I didn't hear movement outside. Feeling somewhat calm by this thought, I carried on.

Slowly but assuredly, I was making my way down. I soon learned that walking down steps while not wanting anyone to know you are doing as such at a quick pace was pretty much an unachievable task, unless, of course, you were a ninja, as ninjas are qualified at being stealthy (unlike me, sadly).

When I got to the bottom, I looked around. It was completely dark down here, and if I'm being perfectly honest, I was as frightened as Natsuki was, though I was trying to hide it, because I wanted to be strong for her.

I saw the screen of my phone glistening in the moonlight. I slowly crept towards it, while keeping an eye on the front door. The suspense was unbelievable. The only sound I could hear was my heart pounding and my breathing (which I was deliberately trying to keep light so her father couldn't hear me, but in the heat of the moment was progressively getting heavier and heavier).

I reached out to grab my phone. My hand was shaking. My fingers closed around it. I turned around, raring to go upstairs.

Suddenly, I heard heavy breathing. My heart stopped, as the all-too-familiar feeling of dread crept up my spine. Slowly, I turned back, hoping that the heavy breathing didn't belong to who I thought it belonged to. The sight I saw next chilled me to my bone.

Before me, was Natsuki's father. He was pressed up against the door, his eyes as wide as they could go, with a sickening smirk playing across his lips.

"Where's my Natsuki, little girl?" He breathed. I didn't trust him.

I ignored him. What he had done was creeping me out, and the sooner I called the police on this sick fucker, the better.

I heard his boots stomping away. He was leaving my doorstep. I sighed with relief.

Suddenly, he turned around and sprinted back towards the door. I screamed. He was trying to break in.

I raced upstairs as I heard an echoing thud. I didn't bother to look back to see what happened next.

I burst into the bedroom. Natsuki looked frightened at my sudden arrival, yet relieved at the same time.

"Oh, thank God." She said, sighing. "I heard that thud and I was scared out of my wits. I thought he'd gotten you..."

I sat down beside Natsuki, and she rested her head on my shoulder.

"Now we dial."

"Mhm."
