Poly squinted as they opened their eyes, slowly registering the altered surroundings in their environment. He inwardly cursed the idiotic carpenter who decided to fuck up his morning's and afternoons by gluing a tile at least two inches higher than the rest, and off center approximately by twenty-six degrees. Polybius knew. They've had more than enough opportunities to get to know each other each time his face met the floor.
But this time was oh so different.
This time, there was no face busting.
And with each new thrilling realization, came fifty new crushing levels of awkwardness. Adjusting himself slightly, he peered down at the lanky mess under him. Of course, he was used to Tecuani's fumbling and clumsiness, and all too familiar with needing to be creative when it came to avoiding collisions that would happen as they both lived within the same space. But this time, instead of heading face first into a long torso, Tecuani was the one to take the brute force of the attack. Tripping over that bastard tile Poly hoped the carpenter died for, and grabbing for anything that would bring back equilibrium. Vainly, that being Poly.
Usually, they'd squirm away from each other almost hastily. Polybius made sure to express his opposition to any closeness or, albeit inconceivable, intimate physical displays. While for Tecuani, he was just too quick to hold down. But here they are, entangled on the kitchen floor with Poly's hands resting on either side of Tecuani's wild head. And the victim still in anticipation for.....whatever he was waiting for. His face was scrunched up, nose wrinkles at its bridge. Biting his chapped lower lip, challenging dimples to appear. But the main attraction was Tecuani's eyes.
They were glued shut.
"We're done falling y'know, Tec," Poly jabbed a bit amused. He smirked a bit, letting sharp teeth see a little light. Slowly, reluctantly, as if Tecuani didn't truly believe they were on solid ground and needed proof for himself, he let one eye peek from under its lid.
Poly saw blue.
He had never seen Tecuani's eyes before. The man had the wildest, unruly, curly black hair he'd ever seen. And this whole time that dirty mane blocked him from seeing what he was seeing now. A light blue, glass ball-like eye, stared back into Poly's own blood stained red one. Normally, things like this wasn't interesting to him, but this was new, and he knew Tec, but he didn't know this about him.
What else doesn't he know about this tall, leeching bastard?
How can he trust him?
How the hell does he see through all of that inky black mess he calls hair?
"Oh, haha," relieved to still be on earth, Tecuani finally relaxed. Allowing both his eyes to open freely. "Never been one fer heights, really.."
Poly studied. Now with both eyes open he felt like he could see everything. Tec's his right eye he noticed, was a deep, dark blue, vast and mysterious. While his left eye was a light, fluttery blue, big and wide. They together just make the damn sea and sky.
The intense stare down they were giving each other was getting overwhelming. Tecuani's palms on his chest began to get sweaty, as Poly's own starting to tire from holding his weight. But first he'd need to tear away from the trance Tecuani's widening eyes were smothering him with.
"You need a fucking hair cut," Polybius spat out before inching away far enough to give Tec some room to sit up. Tec scratches his head, then the bruise on his elbow," I've been overdue for a decade, I ain't goin back."
Ruffling his hair for good measure to assert his stance on growing it out forever, the longer strands were set haphazardly back in place in front of his beach colored eyes.
Tecuani wasn't much to look at, and thusly ignored to be the bum he usually dressed as, but now Poly knew about this mismatched contrast between his beautiful eyes and dirty body he held up in. And started unadmittedly awaiting for new trivia to learn about his roommate.
