A desperate calling. An addictive temperament. Maybe even just the weakness of the heart. Alsie couldn't help the grueling need to douse herself in the animalistic behavior that thrived on in her. She couldn't stop the way her body answered to the memories of the velvet words of Mr. James March. His words had given her a natural high that clouded her clarity, shrouded the miserable world in a sheet of delirium.
She could be described as stupid, from the way a few moments with a man who's body was cold from years of death could bewitch her mind. She didn't understand herself. She still acted like a young girl that couldn't keep her emotions simmering inside her gut. Alsie was perhaps more intrigued by the way he seemed to want more from her. What had she done to gain his attention? Was it the killings she permitted in the rooms of his hotel? Maybe the smell of that coppery fluid drew him in like a wolf with the need to feed. All she knew was that he captivated her.
"You're doing it again," Donovan noted as, once again, Alsie had shifted into a quiet state. Her brain just couldn't help but to switch off into auto-pilot mode once he started talking. "Am I really that boring?"
"Compared to some people I've met, yes," Alsie sighed, clinking the glass in front of her with her nail. They both sat in one of the luxury booths built into the wall at the Hotel Cortez. The bar sat to her left, but not a soul touched the liquor that awaited there. "Also, I just know you're here, making small talk for the Countess' benefit. I'm not stupid." With that, she drank the rest of her amber liquid.
Donovan only smiled in a sarcastic manner, looking down at his untouched drink. She didn't find him to be annoying but despised that the only reason he wanted to speak with her was because of the puppeteer who had him on strings. If he wasn't such a follower, she would have considered making friends, maybe even stepping it up a notch and go the full extra mile if he was willing. But she looked at him as if he was a tumbleweed in the dry desert.
"No, of course not. I can tell you're dangerously smart, as well as beautiful," Oh lord, help me, was what Alsie thought as he tried to smooth talk her. "Just tell me something then. Any little thing that might...satisfy her."
