gravitational pull

Science, along with music and geography, was the only subject Yoongi would take part in, and enjoy. He found it interesting how everything was so much deeper than it seemed, and how we were more than just people, we were organs, made up of cells, made up of atoms, which even had electrons, protons and neutrons making them up. It mesmerised him. Despite his interest in atoms, and chemistry, his favourite thing in science was definitely astronomy.

"So, what is the earth's gravitational field strength?" The teacher asked, and Yoongi's hand shot up.

"9.81 N/kg." He answered.

Hoseok, however, could not relate to this deep love for science, and sat puzzled by the question- Yoongi's answer perplexing him.

"Good. As we all know, the gravitational field strength of planets differs, depending on size- and other factors. All objects have a gravitational field strength, even us!"

Yoongi's soft lips parted in wonder, as Hoseok's brows furrowed in even further confusion.

"It's not strong enough to have things sticking to us, but we are all being drawn to each other. It's small enough to fight it, but it's still there. Everything has it, even particles."

The bell rang, cutting the teacher off short, and the class gathered their things as they packed up, save for Yoongi, who stayed sitting in his chair, still thinking about this new concept.

"Wait! That bell's for me, not for you!" The teacher yelled, in vain, as the students walked out of the classroom and to the school's cafeteria for lunch break. He sighed as he sat by his desk.

"Ah, Yoongi, you always listen." He chuckled, "You can go now, it's fine." He said, smiling at the boy reassuringly.

He stared blankly, as if the teacher hadn't spoken at all.

"Yoongi?"

"Do people really have a gravitational field strength?"

The teacher chuckled, "Well, yes, but we can easily fight it off, since it's so weak, but it's still there."

Yoongi's lips formed an 'o' shape as he thought about the teacher was saying. He stared at his book for a moment, before standing up and packing up his things, as if nothing had happened.
The teacher chuckled at Yoongi, smiling at him as he zipped up his bag.

"See you next lesson, Yoongi." He smiled.
"Bye." Yoongi replied, still seemingly deep in thought.

As Yoongi walked out the door, he was surprised by Hoseok, waiting there for him. At the sight of Yoongi, Hoseok blushed.
"I- uh just thought I'd wait for you." He stuttered, fiddling with his ear.
Yoongi smiled at him, showing his teeth.
"Thank you."

They began to walk, Yoongi feeling comfortable around his new friend, and Hoseok breaking into cold sweats about what to say next.

"So, you're good at science, huh?"

"Yeah, I'm almost as good at science as I am at Geography."

Hoseok chuckled. "I need some of that knowledge, dude. I'm failing science."

Yoongi looked to Hoseok. "It's not really too hard once you get the hang of it. Everything makes sense in science. I can teach you sometime if you like."

Hoseok smiled, looking to Yoongi. "I'd like that."

Every time they held eye-contact, Hoseok found himself blushing over Yoongi's beautiful cat-like eyes, and getting lost in them. They had so much depth to them, and seemed to flicker with flaxen in the mahogany of his irises.

"You know when Mr. Tawns was talking about gravitational pulls?" Yoongi asked as he sat down on the bench, stirring Hoseok from his trance.

"Yeah?"

"I think your gravitational pull is stronger than anyone else's." He said, deep in thought.

Hoseok tried his hardest to conceal his smile, as his heart fluttered within his chest.

"I think yours is too." Hoseok said, his lips tearing into a smile.

"Yeah?" Yoongi asked, turning to face Hoseok.

"Yeah." Hoseok smiled. "It's hard to fight off."

Yoongi smiled. "The same for you. It's like I can't help but be near you."

Silence lingered for a moment before Yoongi began to giggle.

"It's like we're our own planets." He smiled.

Hoseok chuckled with him, "Or like you're my sunshine."

Yoongi laughed at Hoseok, "No, because then I wouldn't be able to orbit you- I would have to stay still."

"Oh." Hoseok laughed, beginning to blush, "Oh yeah."
