Yoongi's gaze followed Hoseok as he handed out the textbooks for the lesson, smiling at every person he handed a book to.
"Hello love." He smiled gently, placing a book on Yoongi's desk. In doing so, he laid his hand on Yoongi's.
Yoongi looked away, sliding his hand out of Hoseok's grip and onto his lap.
"Yoon?" Hoseok asked, worried.
Yoongi sat still, beginning to shake as the uncomfortable silence grew. He eventually opened his pursed lips to speak, but was interrupted by the boy next to him speaking to Hoseok.
"Seok, I need a textbook." He breathed, tearing Hoseok away from Yoongi. Hoseok complied, reluctantly walking away from Yoongi and towards the other boy, handing him a textbook. Yoongi's eyes followed Hoseok's form as he progressed across the classroom handing out the books.
Throughout the lesson, the static chatter of the students seemed to fade into nothingness as all Yoongi could hear was his mother's voice.
"ʏᴏᴜ'ʀᴇ ɴᴏᴛ ᴀʟʟᴏᴡᴇᴅ ᴛᴏ ᴛᴀʟᴋ ᴛᴏ ʜɪᴍ"
His breath slowly gathered speed, his eyes only able to focus on Hoseok, sitting at the front of the room.
He wanted nothing more than one of Hoseok's gentle hugs at that moment, but his mother's words hung over him like a warning.
Yoongi fiddled with the split ends of his hair in order to retain some composure, his mind never drifting from Hoseok. He definitely had a gravitational pull to him; it had only been a day of not speaking to him and he was already a mess.
It was only now that Yoongi realised how much he valued Hoseok; only now that he missed the way Hoseok said things he didn't understand; the way Hoseok laughed when he felt awkward.
He closed his eyes, remembering the way it felt to rest his forehead against Hoseok's, intertwining their fingers. Hoseok had been so gentle with him.
"Yoongi?" Hoseok whispered, stirring Yoongi from his ruminations.
Yoongi's cat-like eyes fluttered open, meeting Hoseok's.
"What's up, hun?" Hoseok asked, tentatively reaching for Yoongi's hand.
Yoongi looked down at his desk, beginning to pack up his things.
"You've been sat there for five minutes, you weren't moving, and you won't talk to me- Yoon, I'm worried about you."
This caught Yoongi's attention, causing him to look up for a moment.
"You are?"
Hoseok's lips tore into a sad smile, his eyes drifting to Yoongi's.
"Of course, love. I care about you, you know."
Yoongi seemed to be perplexed by this statement, his brows furrowing.
"Hey," Hoseok whispered, taking both of Yoongi's hands into his own. "Let's go talk somewhere else." He breathed, side-eyeing the teacher at her desk- who was clearly listening in to their conversation.
Yoongi didn't know why they had to be in a different place to carry on their conversation, but complied; he trusted Hoseok.
Hoseok helped him gather his things into his bag and they briskly left the classroom.
"Bye, Miss." He breathed, his voice tinged with passive aggression and warning.
"Bye." Yoongi smiled gently, trailing behind Hoseok.
As they made their way to their bench for lunch, Yoongi's hand slid into Hoseok's. He looked up to meet his hooded eyes, smiling gently. Hoseok began to blush, Yoongi's pretty smile turning his cheeks a light shade of rose.
"What happened?" Hoseok asked tenderly as they sat down on the bench.
"My- my- my mum..." Yoongi whispered, struggling to get his words out.
"It's okay," Hoseok smiled as he played with Yoongi's hair in an effort to calm him. It seemed to work, as Yoongi opened his pretty lips to speak.
"My mum told me I'm not allowed to speak to you again." He whispered, his eyes glazed with tears. His lips trembled as he remembered his mother's words, and knowing he was breaking her rule as he spoke.
"Yoon, it's okay." Hoseok said, easing Yoongi from his increasing state of panic.
"She would kill me if she was here right now." Yoongi murmured, his voice shaky and weak.
"But she isn't." Hoseok assured, pulling Yoongi into a hug. "It's okay. We'll figure this all out."
Yoongi quivered in Hoseok's arms, before suddenly pulling away.
"What if we don't?"
