The sky gets dark and the workers check out. A dark haired girl stays sitting at her dest, face in concentration as she works on the papers in front of her.
Suddenly, she stands up and disappears into another room. As she walks she hears a loud bang. Heart pounding, she jogs to a door with locks on it. Nothing there.
With a shrug she goes into the lunch room and gets some coffee. Bags are under her eyes and her head hangs in exhaustion.
The girl looks at a clock on the wall and reads 12. Its getting really late but she goes back to her desk and continues to work.
A car pulls up to the building and stops at a machine, later pulling away with a recite and some green paper.
More time flys and the girl grows more tired. Another bang echoes across the halls and she jumps.
Groaning, she gets up and walks back to the door. A shadow moves across her line of vision.
"Who's there?" she calls out, but no answer comes.
After a few minutes she goes back to her desk and picks up her purse and takes her keys out. Pulling on her coat and swinging her purse onto her shoulder she heads to the door.
Bang! She turns her head back, her eyes wide with fear. Bang! Bang! The noise continues and the worker's heart pounds loudly.
"Hello?" She calls. Immediately the noises stop. Shaking her head she whispers to herself, "Sleep. I need some sleep."
Unfortunately, the banging comes back when she steps out the building. A cop walks by her and she calls out to him.
"What is it ma'am?" He asks.
"I am hearing banging coming from inside. I don't know if I'm just sleep deprived or what but I think someone might be inside."
"Are you sure there is no one else that is supposed to be working tonight?"
"I am sure!"
"Okay, I will check it out." He said taking out a flash light and walking into the building.
The woman waits outside until he comes back out. "No one in there," he announced putting the flashlight back in his belt.
"Are you sure?"
"Yes."
"Okay then, I guess I just need some sleep. But thank you officer."
He smiles at her and walks around the corner. The woman gets into her car and drives off.
About ten minutes later she realises she forgot to lock up. She turns around and goes back. When a bank comes into view she knows she is close and pulls into the parking lot.
The door is wide open when she gets there. She stops and looks around her. No one else is on the streets at this time of night.
"I thought I closed the door." she murmured. "Yes, I definitely closed the door." She pulls out her phone and dials three digits. Within seconds she hears a voice at the other end and tells the person about a possible brake in at the bank.
Cop cars pull up to her and cops storm into the bank. It seems like hours when they come back out announcing no signs of a brake in.
A familiar face comes into her view. "I bet you just need some sleep, like you said."
"Right."
The police eventually leave and she walks back over to the parking lot when she remembers what she came here for.
The girl drives up to the door and is surprized to see a cops flashlight. She walks up closer and inspects it.
Curious, she walks back to the door with the many locks on it and finds it shut. She looks up at a security camera that should be facing the door only to find it missing.
"What?" Frantic, she opens the door and is shell-shocked to find it is cleaned out.
"The money!" she shouts. "Its gone!"
The cops are summoned to the bank for the second time that night.
"I came back to lock the doors and found this flashlight sitting on my desk." she informs them.
"Do you have any knowledge of how that got there?" ask the cop.
"Well I was hearing noises earlier and a cop came by. I asked him to search the place for any intruders but he said there weren't any that he saw. He used his flashlight while looking."
"Thank you ma'am for your help. You may go now."
She noded and walked away with a sly smile on her face as she heard a voice shout, "I have my flashlight right here! I didn't steal the money!"
