❝ everyone you will ever meet knows something you don't, and it appeared that she knew everything about me ❞

~

She stood on her tiptoes, excitement flooding her veins as she waited for her name to be called. Nova Summers had never been around a person with magical abilities, but she was standing in a building filled with nothing but, herself included. She stuck out like a sore thumb, catching the attention of many people around her. Professor Dumbledore was intrigued by her persona, knowing that she would bring great joy.

"Summers-!" Before her first name had even passed through their lips, Nova had firmly sat on the stool, kicking her legs back and forth. The hat was placed atop her head, listening to her happy humming.

"I see, there's only one place that you shall be..." The hat paused for a moment, letting Nova still and lean forward in anticipation. "Hufflepuff!" It came as no surprise to many of the professors and surrounding students, some having assumed Ravenclaw but knowing deep down where she belonged. The Sorting went like that most times, with slight exceptions.

Tom Riddle only knew two things, how to cause pain and the art of faking it. His conception left him cursed with the inability to feel good emotions, but he made his way through life without them. Nova Summers caught his attention, intriguing him. She appeared to be such a nice girl, he wanted to know what made her tick, wanted to see her get angry.

She was older than him, by a few months, having watched him get sorted. He only heard her name when he was sitting in charms class and she came walking in, her smile bright and her spirits giddy. She had to bring some papers to the charms professor, and from there stemmed Tom's obsession.

He knew her schedule like it was his own, memorized patterns so that he would run into her when walking to class. Tom learned what troubled her and what excited her, and finally, he worked up the nerve to talk to her, in his fourth year.
That's where it got interesting.

"Pardon me, Miss. Summers, I heard that you are really good in Herbology, and I happen to be lacking in the subject," Tom began, drawing Nova's attention from her open book. She was previously doing some light reading, preparing for her next Potions lesson, when the young man came up to her. She had heard his name plenty, her best friend being particularly fond of his chocolate-brown curls and handsome eyes, but she had only ever passed him by in the hallway, possibly having bumped into him once.
Nova closed the book, turning to face Tom, a smile on her lips. She didn't care that he was a Slytherin, many of her friends happened to be as well.

"Please, call me Nova! I will gladly assist you with the subject, what exactly is the issue?"

Tom smirked, more to himself than anything. This girl would be wrapped around his finger in no time, and pretty soon, he'd have her exactly where he wanted her.
