No Matter What

Chapter Twenty-one

~ Justice ~

"Somebody, please hurry up pick up!" I say looking around for Tristan.

"Hello, this is nine, one, one, how may I help you?"

"Hi, there's a guy chasing me, and trying to hurt me, please come and arrest him!!"

I look around for him and see he's about three miles from here.

"Okay, okay miss where are you at"

"It's a coffee shop on Runward road, please hurry!"

I look back outside and see he is about one and a half miles here.

"Were on our way, just hold on, do you want to stay on the phone or wait?"

"Wait"

He is so close, and I'm getting nervous every step he makes.

"Okay, hold tight, were almost there, goodbye"

They hang up and I beg the cashier, if I can hide behind the counter. He nods fast, either because he overheard the conversation or he's scared.

I run around and hide in the space underneath the counter. Footsteps come closer and closer, and my breathing increases.

"Do you know where this girl is?"

He's probably showing a picture of me.

I hear silence for a minute before footsteps moving away and muttering "I'm gonna find her".

The breath that I was holding suddenly disappeared when the cashier told me that it's all clear.

I look around and there he was, walking towards me.

I wake up again sweaty and crying. Matt wakes up and sees me panicking and automatically hugs me. He grabs my head softly and just rubs me until I calm down. I cry harder and he just hugs me tighter.

"I'm sorry Justice, I'm right here, I'm here, shhhhh" Matt says trying to calm me down.

I hug him then he lets go. He looks at me with his brown eyes and I immediately start calming down. He hugs me once more and then gets up to get something. Meanwhile I sit up in a ball with my legs tucked in.

Mahogany is still asleep while this is happening.

I dont get why these memories keep coming back to me.

Matt comes back with a cup of milk and a rag. He gives me the milk and rubs my back. I take little sips and then I lay back down.

"Are you alright babe?"

I nod and he kisses my forehead before snuggling with me. I stay awake and just look around.

Why do I have to go through all this stuff, all the time

I turn towards Matt and snuggle into chest. He puts his arms around me and we lay there until we fall asleep.

I feel Matt get up to probably get some breakfast, while I lay here cuddled up into the blanket.

Matt comes back and rubs my back while saying something.

"Baby, it's time to wake up, it's two in the afternoon"

I roll over and just stare into his light brown eyes. He smiles and I end up giggling.

Since he told me to get up, I drag myself up, but he ends up dragging me right back down.

"Matthew, you just told me to get up, now your dragging me down?" I question.
