"So," Ollie started, moving to get comfy in his seat, and I looked at him. "You never really told me about what happened to your family."Oh no.
"I mean, I know they're all...." He scratched the back of his neck. "Well, ya know..but you never told me how."
Oh no. He's gonna hate me. He's gonna know it's all my fault, and he's gonna hate me.
I took a deep breath. "Well, I was sitting in my room, doing my homework, when my little sister, Haven, came in. She had asked for me to play with her, but I had said no, because I had too much homework."
"But JJ, pleassee? You can save homework for later."
I chuckled at her cute little puppy dog eyes. "No, Haven. I told you, I have too much homework. If I don't do this, JJ's gonna be in big trouble."
"But..."
"No buts, Haven. Go on and play with Nookie. I'll be there in a little while."
She sighed heavily, looking sad. "Okay..."
She left the room, and I felt bad. I wanted to play with her, but I had loads of homework. I really did. I would get in huge trouble if I didn't get it done by tomorrow.
"Okay, that was really adorable, but what's it have to do with.."
"Them dying?" I finished for Ollie, and he nodded.
"Well.."
It was only half an hour before I heard a scream. One name popped into my head.
"Haven!" I yelled her name, running downstairs and out the door.
"Haven!" I didn't see her anywhere, all I saw was NaNook, my big brother, a bloody mess on the ground before me.
I cried out.
"No! Haven! Where are you?"
I heard a thump behind me, and whipped around to see Haven, crumpled up on the ground.
"Haven!" I ran towards her, and fell to my knees in front of her.
I pulled her onto my lap and checked for a pulse, but there was barely any. I shook her, trying to wake her.
"Haven!" I cried." Haven! Wake up! Come on, it's JJ, I wanna play with you, but you gotta wake up!"
I shook her again. She coughed up blood, and I sobbed. "No..Haven.."
She gave me a small smile, and put her hand on my face. "J...J-jade.."
"Yes, yes, I'm here, I'm right here, JJ's here."
"I love you.." she whispered, and I cried even harder.
