An oven exploded in the diner that day. It blew the entire building up in flames. It was left a mess and in the end no one in the diner survived.
At first onlookers had been excited. Taking pictures to upload to friends and family, generally they were behaving like a crowd at a bonfire night or something like that. But then a shift in the winds direction bought smoke and ash down into their hair and eyes.
The flames from the explosion quickly spread around and destroyed all the buildings and homes nearby. 18 people died. 27 people were injured. 36 people were caught up in the incident.
Briar and Myles were two of the people who didn't make it ... may they rest in peace.
