Call of the Horses

Chapter 17

I listen to the geography teacher drone on about maps and what not until finally the bell rings for lunch. I'm about to rush out the door when I remember about Daniel. He's not the qickest person to leave the classroom but he is the quickest learner.

We finally make it into the hall way which still has a few people milling around waiting for teachers or friends. "Well you've certainly got the hang of things around here." Daniel says to me trying to catch up.

"What do you mean?" I reply, clearly confused. "Well I saw you start to rush out the door back there when the bell went, thanks for waiting by the way. And look at you now, you're walking these halls like you've done it a thousand times before".

"Well there are signs pointing the way to the cafeteria!" I reply as if it was common knowledge. He laughs and we finally get to the loud and unorganised cafeteria.

Daniel grabs me by the hand again and leads me to a table in the middle of the large room. We came to a stop  in front of a group of people sitting around a table eating and laughing. Then I realise Caleb and Delilah are sitting at the table along with three other girls and two more boys.

"I knew you guys were a thing!" Caleb quietly shouts. Damn It! We're still holding hands. We quickly seperate and sit down at the spare two seats. Delilah is on my left and Daniel to my right.

"Guys this is my friend Amber" Daniel says glaring at Caleb who just chuckles in response.  "Amber this is Kyla, Elecia and Sky." He introduces.

Kyla is medium height with dark blonde straight shoulder length hair and dark brown eyes. The light yellow sun dress she was wearing complimented her skin tone really well.

Elecia was a bit taller than Kyla and has the same coloured hair but it waves down her back and part of it is tied up at the back in a little pony tail.

The last girl, Sky, wears the hugest smile I've ever seen and her short dark brown hair has a blue streak running through her fringe. She was wearing electric blue rimmed glasses and a tattoo was poking out from the collar of her t-shirt.

Sky waved at me and Elecia and Kyla both smiled. "And these are my two other friends Tyler and Ace." He says pointing to the two guys.

Tyler has blonde almost white hair and emerald green eyes and is looking me up and down like I'm his prey. Ace however has light green dyed hair which makes me think about Gabrielle.  I wonder if she made it to her destination.

And as if on que, a tall girl with electric blue hair comes and pulls up a chair from another table and sits next to Ace. "Man that line up is annoying it takes me ages just to-" she starts but then she looks up and freezes.

"Dar-" she quickly stops herself. She must understand that the others don't know my real name. "Who's this?" she asks instead, leaving me with a sigh of relief.

"Anna this is Amber, Amber this is Anna." Delilah introduces to me. 'Anna' gets up from her seat and comes around and hugs me. "She a hugger" someone says, I think it was Ace.

"Nice name" she whispers in my ear. "You too" I reply. "God I love your hair" she says trying to ease the tension. "Thanks yours too" I say. We both sit down again and I twiddle my thumbs, I haven't got my lunch yet.

"So where you come from?" Tyler asks me smiling with his gorgeous one of a kind smile. "You've just met a new girl and you ask her where she lives? I now she hot and all but come on Tyler seriously!" Elecia exclaims hitting Tyler in the arm. Tyler puts on a mock hurt expresion then answers "Yeah of course." I can't control my blush and I look and see Daniel is uncomfortable but I brush it off.
