"SLOW DOWN!" screams Lacy, my drivers test instructor.

"OKAY!" I scream back at her.

I come to a screeching halt at a stop sign. A huge Coca Cola truck races by in front of me right as I stop.

"Pull over!" Lacy screeches.

"There's nowhere to pull over, we're stopped!" I bellow.

"Then start going!" Lacy says, that is it really that hard? face on.

"Fine," I say, clearly knowing I can't possibly pass anyway. I pull around the stop sign following a yellow car. Then pull into the nearest parking lot.

"Get out," Lacy says blatantly.

I slam the car door shut before she can say anything else and before I get anymore frustrated. I walk around to the other side and get in. She's already sitting in the driver's seat, hand on the wheel. I look over at her two perfect wisps of blonde hair hanging around her face with a perfect bun. I bet she passed her driver's test on her first try.

We drive, no she drives, out of the parking lot when a gray minivan pulls out in front of us, scratching the front of the car. Wow. Could. Things. Get. Any. Worse. Actually don't answer that. A meteor could hit at any moment and next thing you know we go down like the dinosaurs, now that would be much, much worse.

Lacy lays on the horn but the car is already zipping into the take-out line. I look over at it. In the front there is an older looking man with an older looking woman sitting next to him furiously texting. In the back seat are three little kids. One is probably eight. The other two are infants. Lacy takes off out of the parking lot into the busy road. Well, I sure am glad I don't have to drive through that madness. I look around for any clues as to where we are.

"Are we gonna be there soon?" I ask impatiently.

"Five minutes," Lacy answers.

"Ugh," I groan laying my head on the seat belt. Finally, after what seems like forever, we start moving.

Turns out Lacy was right. Five and a half minutes marks my watch. I see my mom impatiently checking her watch, as she slouches on a dark green bench meant for parents to wait. She springs to her feet like she had been excitedly waiting there the whole time. There's a huge grin across her face, probably because she doesn't have to wait anymore. I sit up straight in the car ready to hop out of this death trap. I jump out of the car as soon as Lacy parks.

My dad comes out of the building holding three water bottles to greet my mom. When I reached them Dad hands me a cold water bottle along with Mom.

"So how'd it go!?" my parents say in perfect unison.

"Uh...," I say trying to think of what to tell them.

"Well actually-," I begin, but Lacy cuts me off.

"It went fantastic!" She says greeting my parents, a huge fake grin stretched across her makeup plastered face.

"It did?" I mumble.

Mom and Dad have huge ear-to-ear grins when they hear the news. "Well that's amazing!" my Dad exclaims.

"Come on inside! I'll go grab your scores and see if you passed!" Lacy says practically shoving us through the doors. We sit down on couches that feel like sandpaper and wait for my results.

"So I guess it went really well! Hopefully that means no missing tires and dents in my car!" Mom says nervously.

"Heh...," I laugh awkwardly and nervously.

"Here we go!" Lacy says in a sing-song opera voice.

"You got a 95 on our paper test!" Lacy says, my parents and I squealing.

"As for your driving test... let's just say you'll be visiting us again," She finishes less excitedly after a long sigh.

"Oh," my parents say after a while.

On the drive home we sat in silence. I stared out of the window watching birds fly around freely, not a care in the world. Lucky birds, they don't have to take flying tests. We pull into our neighborhood as a small kitten sluggishly walks out of our driveway. The car rolls up onto the pavement. The garage door opens and my mom drives us inside. I open the car door and am immediately blasted with hot, humid air. My feet trudge as I head towards the stairs.

"Piper!" my mom screams.

"What is this!?" She screeches in total hysteria.

Oh. My. Sugar. Cookies. The car! I slowly turn around. A gasp escaped my lips as I stand looking at the front of Mom's car. The front had completely lost its dark brown paint in three perfect strokes as if a bear had scratched its newly pampered nails across it. Of course that didn't really happen, bears can't possibly get their nails done.

She hasn't looked at me yet, and I think maybe I can sneak inside without them noticing! I turn around with what little hope I have left. I open the door and sure enough it erupts with the sound of two wild dogs barking.

"Great," I say to myself. Desperate to escape the now full attention of both of my parents, I bolt through the door and race upstairs to my room, slamming the door and jump on my bed. I had my arms wrapped around my knees and was rocking back and forth. It'll be alright...okay? I tell myself soothingly.

"Piper!" My screaming mom comes barreling to my room and slams the door wide open. "What did you do to my car?!" she says pacing back and forth sounded panicked.

"It's not my fault!" I scream. There it goes... I blew it. Now I'll definitely get in trouble.

"Oh yeah? How is it not your fault?! YOU were driving the car!" she shrieks her voice getting high.

"No, it wasn't! Lacy told me to get out and she started driving when a minivan came in front of us!" I scream, my fists clenched and my voice cracking.

"Are you positive?" my mom says slightly less angry.

"Um, yeah I'm pretty sure!" I say knowing that, oh yeah! I was there!

"Fine," my mom says sighing and clearly still upset. "But you will pay for the damage" she finishes, walking out of my room.

I sat, dumbfounded. What? UGH! Now I have to pay for the car! Wait... how am I not grounded? That rarely happens... Okay... I guess I will just take advantage of this. I go downstairs to say goodnight and miraculously, my parents tell me that I can retake my drivers test. Tomorrow. How will I practice? I can't believe I can re-do the test so soon!
