Today I will finally explain my Wolftalia characters and story arc. I should probably make a YouTube video on my channel Penny4Life discussing the topic in detail because I have this whole alternate universe thing I have created with these characters. In a short summary, Hetalia is an anime made on the basis of countries as people. There is also the canon, nekotalia which is pretty much the same characters turned into cats. Funny enough, I had the countries as people idea LONG BEFORE I discovered Hetalia, and when I discovered it at first, I hated it with a passion because "it stole my idea" 😂😂

Though this obviously wasn't the case, I refused to watch it until one faithful day, then I got pulled into the black hole that is Hetalia. Soon I discovered Nekotalia watching the series and since wolves were (and still are) my favourite animal, I wondered what it would be like if countries were represented by wolves. From there I took off. I took the basic personalities from the characters in hetalia and the colour palettes from the cats in nekotalia and started creating wolf designs with them. Then I started a grander story arc.

Basically in this AU, the countries as wolves (all of them, even the ones not featured in Hetalia) inhabit a remote island, never discovered by humans (somehow lol) They've lived there since the dawn of humanity. Every time a nation falls, the sovereign wolf that represents it gives into mortality, every time a new nation rises, a new sovereign wolf is born. They are immortal as long as the nation they represent does not fall, even if they do fall, their spirit lives on in the spirit of the island. Sovereigns are very different from normal wolves, for starters, they vary in size.

Depending on the political size of the country they represent, they will be much bigger or much smaller. They have a wide variety of colours, pretty much any natural shade you could imagine with varied patterns. Some have wings, 7 of them to be precise
(Sweden, Norway, Iceland, Finland, Norway, Denmark, Russia, and Canada). Only the nations that inhabit the Arctic Circle, are gifted with wings. They help protect them from the cold and migrate from North to South much quicker. The wings only give a small advantage in battle and for a period of time, the sovereign wolf of Canada didn't even know how to fly with them!

The wolves are also much more powerful than an ordinary wolf or canine. The more powerfully the nation they represent, the more raw power they have within themselves. They are built for combat, but some are very passive and peaceful. They do not hurt anything that's not of their own species unless it's a direct threat to them. Unfortunately, because world peace has not been achieved, they are very aggressive with one another. Of course alliances, friendships, and even things that seem to be almost romantic relationships can form between them.

They seem to express deep emotions stronger than other animals, almost at a human level. They grow attached to one another or hold grudges against each other. This makes them a lot of fun to write ^^
They are adapted naturally to the climate of their home country, they also have the natural ability to ally with the animals that live there too. This is because a long time ago, they used to live in the wild lands of their individual homelands. This was until they all migrated to the island, nobody knows why they did this.
In my AU, they have not had contact with humans, until some college aged kids were exploring the waters near the island and stumbled across it. They explored it and came across a VERY large winged canine. They approached it and tried to get it to come to them. It didn't come towards them but didn't show aggression. They walked towards it and it didn't move. They weren't able to get it to let them touch it but they were just centimetres from being able to do so. It sniffed one of the kids hands, but just as it was doing so, it's ears perked and it ran off, really fast. A couple seconds later another one came out.

This one didn't question their presence, it seemed to just want attention. It let them pet it.
Unfortunately, when they came home and shared their encounter, the rest of the world wanted to see the mystical creatures. When more visitors came to the island, they pestered the animals, and some were attacked. One organization decided to make the island an international park, and start taming the animals. This didn't work, there was no way to tame a nation. They had minds of their own. Eventually people decided to leave them alone. There were cruises that occasionally visited the island and respectful tourists were greeted kindly.

With the warnings planted around the island, tourists were able to interact with the sovereigns peacefully. People were naturally drawn to their home country's representative wolf. With the help of a manual that helped identify the wolves (no I still haven done the manual 😂 that's my main goal, 195 character sheets and basic info on every single nation) they could learn a lot about the actual nations' themselves.

Woo, that's a lot, still didn't get our all the info I wanted to but most people won't read this anyway lol. Hope this lays out some of my little wolfy universe for my lovely followers (and my parents, shout out to Mom and Dad 😂❤️)
