It all started during English lesson.

I have no idea what Ms Mohan was thinking when she gave out the consent forms to a fashion show during English class. I can still hear her chirpy voice in slow motion in my head.

"This is the consent form for a fashion show in Orange County. Cara Delevigne will be present." she said.

I heard a high-pitched squeal from behind me and without turning, I already knew that it was Joey. Cara was Joey's idol, just like Einstein is mine. And just like my Einstein pictures on my door, she has posters of Cara plastered all over her walls.

I sighed as I pass the consent form behind. Joey snatched it excitedly and took two.

I narrowed my eyes in suspicion,"Why did you take two of the form?"

"It's for you, of course." she said, as if it was the most obvious thing in the world.

"Who said I was going?" I asked.

"Me? Aw come on! Take it as my 5th grade birthday present." she whined.

Sigh. I forgot to get her a birthday gift when she was 11 years old and she has been using it against me ever since.

"No Joey. I already got you a pair of Prada boots, a Chanel handbag, a drink from the kitchen when you were at my house because you were too lazy, a Pull & Bear hoodie, and probably a dozen more things for your damned birthday gift." I counted the list off my fingers.

She grinned sheepishly,"Please Lyn, if you come with me, I will stop mentioning the birthday gift."

"Nope. I will not buy this lie again." I said.

"Alright everyone, settle down." Ms Mohan said.

Joey frowned with a panicked look on her face.

"I... uh..." she stuttered.

"Back to your places and turn to your textbook page 56." Ms Mohan said.

"I will tell Bale that you had a crush on him in 3rd Grade." she rushed.

Oh no she did not. I felt a fiery blush rise onto my face,"Ugh, fine."

Through out the whole day, Joey was always muttering incoherently about how she'd definitely get Cara's signature this time.

Lucky her. At least she has a chance of getting her idol's signature. Einstein is dead so it's a definite no for me.

Finally, the last bell rang. I breathed a sigh of relief, finally, my time in this living hell is over. I might be a geek but I don't like school. That's a general misconception most people have.

It was a mere 5 minutes walk from Keppel High aka my school to my house but to me, it felt like an eternity. The scorching sun really isn't helping.

"Hey mum." I greeted as I walked into our house.

"Hey honey! I made your favourite meatball spaghetti today." she told me as she sat our plates down.

"So did anything happen in school today?" she asked, twirling some spaghetti onto her fork.

"Uh yea," I said as I pulled the form out from my bag,"so there's going to be a fashion show-"

My mum's eyebrows, shot up and I gave her a look.

"-in Orange County. And stop looking at me like that. Joey made me go."

"Sure honey. Where do I sign?" she asked as her eyes skimmed the paper.

I pointed at the line above the words "Parent's Signature".

I could feel the dread welling up in my heart as she finished her signature with a flourish.

Well. Guess who's going to a fashion show which is an utter waste of time? Me. Yay. What a great piece of news.
