Jeremy sighed. He picked up his fork and looked across the table. A man whom he called "Stranger" was watching him. He'd been living with Jeremy ever since his mom died.

Stranger looked nothing like Jeremy. He had white hands, and a face like no other. Stranger didn't like Jeremy very much. He would punish him if he did anything that didn't please Stranger. That, Jeremy thought was unfair.

Jeremy looked at his salad, and stabbed a tomato with his fork, barely picking it up. As he raised it to his mouth, the fruit slid off the fork and hit the floor. Jeremy gasped as Stranger got up from his seat.

"N-no! Please, don't! It's t-too dar--" Jeremy was cut off by Stranger grabbing him by the neck and dragging him off through the hall.

"P-please! It w-won't happen again, I-I swear...!" Jeremy pleaded.

Jeremy's face hit the hard wood of his room. He spat out a shining white tooth, and wiped his mouth. When he turned around he was met with the familiar sound of the lock clicking.

Jeremy pounded on the door. Screeching and crying, he finally wore out. He curled up into a ball and his body racked with sobs. He looked up through his tears to see Mago sitting in the corner. Shaking violently, he got up and went to his doll.

"A-at least I-I have you to k-keep me com-company.." Jeremy stuttered.

The doll continued to smile. Its lifeless eyes seemed to stare into an abyss of nothing.

Jeremy fondled the doll and curled up on the floor with it in his arms. He sighed, and finally fell asleep.
