I decided that I didn't want to go home after school that day so I went home with Poppy. Of course Poppy didn't mind; she was my best friend after all...The walk to her house only took about 5 minutes and was filled with our general jokes, chat and laughter. When we reached her house, we walked in to meet her family, happy and bubbly as always. I felt part of their family; it was nice. I think now was the time to tell Poppy.

We had our way to her bedroom where I slumped my bag on the carpet and sprawled out on her bed like it was my own. Poppy did the same except she kicked at the end of her bed. I sat up and tucked a pillow behind me.

I looked at her straight in the eye and smiled a bit."Poppy, I need your help, but first I need to tell you something." She looked up at me and turned around so she was facing me. "What's up?" Now is the time to let it all out so I immediately spoke up, "I want to run away..."

Poppy's facial expression had gone from calm and composed to shocked and astounded in a matter of moments so I quickly added "Just for a while! It's really hard trying to handle Jack's dilemmas. I can't deal with it. It's like I'm suddenly in charge and the source of everything and I can't deal with it.

I dug my face in the palms of my hands and I heard Poppy take a deep breath.

"Then I'm coming with you."

I bolted my head up and looked at her finding her green eyes piercing into my hazel ones.

"I'm not letting anything bad happen to you when I'm not there to comfort you. I just don't want you to get hurt."

Before she could say anything else, I got up and put my hand on her shoulder.

"You can't come with me. I need to get away from everything. Just for a few weeks. But I need a favour." Poppy sighed deeply then looked up at me.

"Okay, go on."

"I need you to tell mum that I'm staying with you. She can't come over but if she does you can't let her in the house. Okay?"

All was silent for a few seconds before she nodded in agreement. I pulled her into a tight warm hug and then pulled away to face her worried expression.

"I'll leave in a few days; after I've had my final exam." Poppy sent me a smile and said, "Alright, just  be safe."

After my talk with my best friend we resumed to are normal talk-abouts and watched a film. For about an hour we talked about our future plans and boys. We both had our crushes. Her's? Well I can't tell you that! To be honest, I didn't really know who I liked. I'd crushed on boys before but right now I wasn't up for romance. The most important thing to be right now was my school grades, nothing more.

After Poppy and I finished watching 'Captain America: The First Avenger', in which we both cried, I made my way home. I was cooking dinner again tonight so I needed to be home by 7pm.

'5.32pm' my watch read. 'I've got time,'  I thought to myself.

Knowing this, I took a detour to the park. The wind had picked up quite a bit from when I left. I pulled the sleeves of my green jumper down and put my hood up to cover my ears. As I reached the park, I jogged across the grass and opened the gate to the swings. A little boy, can't have have older than 12, sat on the left swing reading 'The Hitch Hiker's Guide to the Galaxy.' I smiled, my dad read my that book when I was a child...

"I've that book, Hitch Hiker's Guide," I must've startled the boy as he jumped quite a considerable amount. He looked up at me, a little shocked (or surprised, I wasn't too sure).

"It's one of my favourites." I told him. He smiled at me and I returned it with one of my own.

A woman in the field next to us shouted, "James?! We're going home! Becca needs the loo!"

As the boy jumped off the swing with his book and bright red cheeks, sighing, he sent me a quick wave and a smile. Snickering at his mother's remark, I smiled and waved enthusiastically back. I sat on the swing and took out my own book and my glasses. I must've been reading for a good 10 minutes before someone poked me on the shoulder, making me jump. Then they jumped in front of me and I gasped.

It was Chris; I was supposed to meet him hours ago.

Author's notes:

Sorry this is really late and quite a short chapter... I've been EXTREMELY BUSY and haven't had the time to write. I've also had writer's block since I don't actually have a story line for this...

Maybe I should make one. It'll make this job a lot easier...

Well If you do get to read this I hope you will like it. It kind of leaves on a cliffhanger:3

It felt good. Okay well um I promise the next chapter will have more to it and will be longer.

Okay bye:3
