Tea

A few hours later, Atsushi found himself in what felt like his room, but a swirling mist of steam had engulfed all of its features, turning the furniture into silhouettes and the few lights into glowing, obscured stars. At first, he thought that Dazai was attempting to burn down the apartment, but he soon thought that by now Kunikida would be inside popping a blood vessel. A sudden whiff of herbs and meat set his senses straight and he slowly sat up, surveying the shadow moving around the kitchen as though preparing something.
"What are you doing?" Atsushi wondered. It was almost a rhetorical question as it was fairly obvious that Dazai Osamu was attempting to cook something edible and not lethal to the human body.
"Isn't it obvious? I'm making you tea on rice!"
"You.. know how to make that?"
Dazai beamed through the thick steam with a childish confidence that Atsushi quite simply couldn't even attempt to scowl out.
Standing up and making his way through the muggy screen of steam, Atsushi walked to the kitchen and  watched his superior's bandaged arms sway to and fro as though in a twisting dance, cutting ingredients and.. ingredients? Where had he got these ingredients from?
"The shopping you brought in earlier.. was it for this?"
Dazai smirked triumphantly. "Duh! Why wouldn't I buy such a nice get well soon gift for my favourite subordinate?"
"Only subordinate." Atsushi mumbled to himself.

After a long while of nagging and trying to make sure that Dazai did not in fact try to poison the dish, the two sat down and enjoyed a fairly relaxing meal with the sound of a heavy rainfall outside.
"Where did you even get this cold from?" Dazai sighed, putting down his small portion and patting his stomach happily.
"Probably from staying out in the rain too long the other night." Atsushi was fiddling with his hair and was in such a relaxed mood that he failed to realise the weight of his words.
"What do you mean the other night?"
Atsushi nearly choked on his own breath.
"Um.. nothing I just got my words muddled up.."
"Atsushi Nakijima," Dazai shuffled closer to his subordinate with the tease of a high school girl trying to get gossip from a fellow student. "What have you been doing out late at night without anyone knowing?"
Atsushi rolled his eyes and stood up to take out the bowls, ignoring the inquiry.
Dazai huffed and followed him closely to make sure that the younger would be uncomfortable and hopefully give in and tell him whatever was going on. Was he seeing someone? Doing late night training? In trouble with some big criminal honcho?
"Can you stop following me so closely?" Atsushi was easily irritated and susceptible to teasing when he had a cold and wasn't feeling his best, and so merely walking too close to him was enough to set him on edge.
"Only when you tell me what you've been doing in the rain late at night."
Atsushi grumbled and made his way to his room; Dazai wouldn't follow him there, even he has his limits.

Atsushi was wrong.
