Missing cross

-Kenzie's POV-

I woke up a minute later to Maddie's scream.

I sprinted to her room to find Maddie shaking on the ground. Mom ran in after me.

"Is everything alright?" Mom exclaimed. Maddie mumbled something about demons and crosses and ghosts, and it made me wander if this had something to do with the crosses above the door.

"Everything's fine, go back to bed." Maddie managed to say.

"Ok, you probably just had a bad dream sweetie. Now get some sleep, your cousins are coming over tomorrow." Mom said calmly. Maddie got a panicked wild look in her eye, as if the worst thing that could happen was our cousins coming over.

I ignored Maddie's look and went to bed. Mom was right, Maddie probably just had a bad dream.

Right?

The next day mom was frantic getting the house clean for our cousins, who are all close to our age.

When they got here, I greeted them and gave them a tour of the house. Maddie stayed in her room with the door locked, not wanting to talk to anyone.

While I was giving the tour, I stopped because I saw that above the door to the room that Brooke and Paige were staying in, the cross got cut off the wall. I continued the tour and pretended that nothing was wrong. Because it was probably never there and I just didn't notice it before.

Right?
