I can't lie.

My heart was beating a mile per minute as we neared the place I was meeting this girl at. We agreed on a private, remote place just to ensure no one over heard our conversation. My clothes were simple and I wore sunglasses and a beanie so I wouldn't call attention to myself.

Everything was put on the line right now.

Richard didn't know I was here, no one except Rafael. He looked up at the rearview mirror, giving me nervous glances. I refrained from giving him any details, but I'm sure he knew I was up to no good.

We drove for what seemed like forever, every second stretching out for an eternity. The car slowed to a stop and my heart seemed to stop beating with it. I could tell things weren't going to go down well, but I just needed to do this and find out. I know there's a dark secret Richard must be hiding if people hate him this bad.

And if he wouldn't tell me, I'd find out on my own.

"Juliette Castellano." My name rolled of her tongue as she stretched her hand out to me. I catched a hint of surprised tangled in there. "I didn't think you'd actually show."

"Well, I said I would and I'm a woman of my word." I spoke, firmly shaking it, then standing a couple of inches from her as we stood on this doc overlooking the empty beach.

"I'm Alicia, by the way."

"Nice to meet you." I swallowed the lump in my throat before she continued.

"So, what do you want to know?" She inquired as she placed emphasis on want. It made me a bit uncomfortable to be with this girl but I had no choice. I could pick up how much she hated Richard, and the possible truth scared me.

"Why does everyone hate him so much?"

She scoffed. "Is that a real question?"

I pursed my lips together, "Yes, I told you it's what I wanted to hear from you before coming here."

"No need to be uneasy, Juliette. Just consider me a friend. I'm here to speak honestly and truthfully." She said in defense, but I still wasn't too convinced.

"Give me your phone. I need to be sure you're not using this against me."

She fished in the front pockets of her jacket, handing me a black iPhone. She went on to unlock it for me and she really wasn't voice recording.
