"Is this too much?"
I turned to face Marisol. She looked up from her phone and shook her head. "That's actually...perfect." I sighed in relief, glad that the two hour shopping trip was over. It was flowery and off the shoulders, which made it elegant and flirty, and perfect for the occasion.
"I'd never thought I'd be this stressed over a barbecue," I confessed, while fishing through my mess of a purse for my debit card. I handed it over to the sales clerk.
"That's just cause you actually like him," Marisol playfully nudged me, earning a blush from me. I hated to be this red in front of people when it came to Richard, but I might as well just accept it because I have a feeling he won't be going anywhere soon. Literally. "Don't worry, you're good for him. His parents will see that and they will love you right away."
"I hope so," I grab the bag and thank the clerk. Marisol and I place on our glasses as the blinding charade approaches us from all angles. Marisol lives for this, she smiles her biggest smile waving and posing for the camera as we hurry over to CNCO's day to day car, which is a 2019 Land Rover in all black with tinted windows.
"I can't believe I'm actually in this luxurious ass car, like bitchhh." Marisol looked around in awe and took videos to remember. She also made me take pictures with her to give her a shoutout on my Instagram. I didn't mind since she's my best friend and I'm glad the fans will get to know her.
"When will I meet Alex?" She questioned, as we both scrolled through our feed. I bit my lip before answering.
"She won't be working for Richard anymore," I told her, the sadness coming over me once more. Alex had sent in her last two weeks before I came in, but she didn't tell me for this reason. I'm glad she's found a job on campus since it would be easier for her to attend college and as the head cook her tuition is gradually cut down. She will finish culinary school by the end of my contract.
"Hire me! Come on, I'm great making sopa, arroz, tacos and maybe some mangu since y'all Dominican," Marisol didn't know jack shit about cooking. My cooking skills were limited but far better than hers. "I'll whip it up real good in the kitchen, and maybe then ya can invite the other Spanish papis and this Spanish mami can get her bag secured, win win?"
"I think the fuck not," I laughed, which led her to nudge me hard. We went back and forth just horsing around and hitting each other up until we arrived at the house. Four unfamiliar cars were parked in the drive way.
...............................
"Marisol, remember: calm, poised, and collected." I look her in the eyes, giving her a serious look. These boys are so used to girls screaming in their face all the time, and Marisol is too excited to meet them. She's also very loud, as if y'all haven't already noticed.
