Chapter 5 (snow)

Snowpaw marched out of the apprentice den just to see that his sister Lightningpaw was talking to Stormstar of all cats, Stormstar! He was so excited about training today until he heard what had happened. At that point Snowpaw realized that battle training wasn't just for the fun of it. His hopes for the day were crushed.

As Snowpaw sat staring at his sister, Applepool, Tallbranch and Echoscratch came up behind his flank and announced, "hey, it's time for battle training apprentices." So they all headed towards the training clearing.

"Okay, first now that were here we need to mention the rules," Tallbranch purred, "awe I remember my first training session. The point is, One, claws stay sheathed, Two, remember this is not playtime it's time for battle training." Snowpaw wasn't as excited anymore but he was ready to train if it meant helping his clan.

"Now let's start with a simple swipe and a dodge."

"Snowpaw, Lightningpaw, wasn't that so much fun! I wish we could do it everyday." yowled Firepaw as they munched on their fresh-kill.

"I don't know, it seems a little too violent for me," Snowpaw whimpered, "I don't like fighting." After that they sat in silence while they finished eating their fresh-kill. Snowpaw had no idea what he'd said that made everyone silent.

"Everyone old enough to leave the camp please gather around the high tree!" Stormstar announced, "it is time to address our first possible threat to our clan." Surprised whispers rang throughout the clan. "As some of you know a group of rogues threatened us at the border this morning. We don't know their numbers and we should be prepared for a fight. Everyone should be on high alert." At that Stormclan fell into absolute silence. The three litter mates drowsily walked to their den and curled up to rest
