Artemis walked to the dining pavilion, where Kara and Thalia were protesting her departure with Hippolyta. “.....this is what she wants to do, and I fully support it.” Kara sighed loudly, “Come on! All this stuff going on, and suddenly they say she has to leave, isn't that just a little suspicious?” Thalia agreed, “They just want her to go out there to die! Can't you see that, Hippolyta? You've gotta convince her not to-” Artemis smiled slyly as she interrupted the conversation, “Go? Convince me not to go, right? Now, now Thalia, you can't be that scared that I'll replace you as Hippolyta's lieutenant....We can fight about it when I get back.” Kara went up to her friend.
“Don't you find this suspicious, Artemis? They suddenly come in after all this confusion to-” “To help me.” Artemis finished, she raised her hands to point at all of them. “You all know that I can be a loose cannon, and even I at some times have questioned my place on the line between womyn and animal. But this is going to help. And even if they try to leave me for dead, I'll just come back. These womyn are too old to remember how to properly dispose of a body.”
Hippolyta nodded and sat down to eat, “Well said, little sister. Now please, let's not talk about killing or death or sabotage, and.....let's, let's just eat a meal for once, okay?” Thought Thalia and Kara seemed to not want to give up on this argument, they knew there would be no going around the two sisters. Artemis sat beside Kara, “I make fast friends, don't I? You seem to care an awful lot for someone you hardly even know...” Kara hugged Artemis tightly, “Of course I do. You may be a monster, but you're a pretty cool one, and I'd have to be a monster myself to not want to protect anyone.” With that Kara took another large ham and stuffed it down her gullet.
Artemis had her stuff that she would need for her trip right beside her on the floor. She finally ate a good meal, minus the few pieces of bead that Kara would steal. Artemis just didn't want to risk the thought of allowing her last day eating in theses halls, talking freely with these people. Though she felt nostalgic, she didn't feel bad, this training would be the best thing that's happened to her in a while. The four womyn seemed to be released from the earlier tension and even happily joined the others in their cheer and merry making. This continued well into the morning, before Artemis knew it she was the only one awake in a room full of somewhat drunken womyn who were also passed out. According to the wall clock, there was about one hour before Artemis would have to leave. She sighed and began to walk away, expertly slipping through the mass collection of passed out bodies.
Artemis found her way outside of the dining pavilion. Which is by the way on the second floor of the building, Artemis began to descend down to the first floor were the council would be waiting for her. Artemis began to think of all the training she would do, when a scary thought pushed its way into her head.
What does the outside look like? Is it beautiful, or scary? Desolate or busting with life?
She thought, her body become a bit numb,
Will I be poisoned if I go out there? Who's to say I'm not allergic to anything?
She tried to shake away the thoughts of doubt, of indecisiveness. Artemis smiled, “I will be leaving this place for a place suitable for training, what type of place that is? It doesn't matter.” She said as she finally got down the steps that led to the first floor. Artemis continued to say things like, “It's all for the training.” or, “You're doing this for the cause. You must become a better warrior for the cause.”
Artemis looked at the empty hallways. It was silent as she preferred it. Only the steps of her feet moving through the hollowed halls to keep a sense of rhythm and serenity. Artemis was surprised to see that the halls of the first floor were majorly for the nurseries, nurseries that she had spent most of her life avoiding. As well as the meeting hall being around the next corner. Artemis felt a small smile tug at the corners of her mouth as she walked forward, the doors to the building would be up ahead. Sure enough, grandiose twelve foot double doors stood undisturbed in front of her. Beautiful doors made of polished marble, with trimmings of gold and silver littering the doors' faces. Artemis stifled a yawn as she approached the doors. I can't be sleepy.....I've gotten more rest than I could possibly use. (Know that, that was a lie, Artemis hasn't slept since she had passed out almost seven hours ago.)
