Idolatry said as he traveled to Xing.

Idolatry stabbed a Xingese Merchant.
The other merchants stood from the canteen and took out their swords.
"How futile" Idolatry said as he
took the lives of the rest of the merchants.
One messenger quickly rode a horse to inform the Emperor. Luckily, the messenger arrived in one piece.
"Your majesty, Xing Merchants were killed in the border!"
Ling stood up. With anger, the Ultimate Shield was revealed.
"Who is it?"
"A foreigner, sir!" the messenger replied.
Ling, with no hesitation, sprinted to the canteens, only to find dozens of people dead. Inside Ling, Greed was shocked to see the Strongest Homunculus, Idolatry.
"Let me take over Ling, I know this man.
He is also a Homunculus."
"Well, well. If it isn't Greed. Why did you kill Father? Huh?" Idolatry asked.
"I turned to the good side. And he was against my decision. And so with the help of my-”
Idolatry stabs Ling and blood splatters.
"Ho-How can yoy pierce my Ultimate Shield?"
"Because I am the absolute strongest out of you all. Didn't I make that clear already?
In fact, I can destroy your Philisopher's Stone in you right now and make you mortal!" Idolatry said.
"No way, that is certainly not possi-"
Then Idolatry turned the stone to dust
which makes Ling mortal now.
"Goodbye again, Ling."
"Now, the final blow which will kill you."
Idolatry moves his hand, preparing for the attack, and quickly stabs through, who?
And the person fell down immediately,
with the last words of,
"Young Lord, run. Don't make my sacrifice pointless."
"Lan Fan!!!" Ling screamed as he ran away from Idolatry.
"Kill him!" he said to the soldiers.
"Oh, I'm such a coward!" he thought.
"I need to inform Ed and the others now!"
Ling rode his horse to Amestris after the event. He arrived in Resembool, only to find out that Ed and Al part ways and were not there. So to not make his trip useless, he informed Winry about Idolatry.
Winry told Ling to stay until the Elric Brothers return. Ling had no choice but to agree, and so on.
