Chapter 9

Marinette POV:

Ugh, of all the classes that could've been required to take again, of all the classes that could've been required because of me studying fashion, WHY DOES PHYSICS HAVE TO BE IT?! I mean seriously? It has nothing to do with fashion! I hate physics! It's not that I'm bad at them, it's just that I hate doing it. I'm sitting in physics next to Taylor and my other friend, Cordelia, listening to the teacher drone on about Quantum theory. Cordelia is studying to become a scientist so she is diligently writing notes on her tablet. She has twisted brown and blue eyes, which unfortunately causes her to be labeled as ¨weird" but Taylor and I tell her that, technically everyone is weird by someone's standards. Her hair is a soft, silky, brown color with an odd streak of blue, she says she's had it that way for longer than she can remember, Taylor and I told her it's one more thing that makes her special. Her skin is a fair tanned color and she has a small frame, making her look fragile, but believe me, she is the exact opposite of fragile. I asked her and Taylor if they want to go to the party at the beginning of class and they both agreed. I was talking to Tikki before class and she told me that she has a feeling Master Fu isn't doing well because he no longer has the turtle miraculous and is not exactly young. So now Tikki and I have to find someone suitable for the role of the new guardian of the miraculous. I was thinking about who could be a good fit when Cordelia tapped my shoulder.

"Marinette, are you okay? You seem.....distracted. What's on your mind?" Cordelia asked curiously.

"N-no no, I'm okay. Nothing is on my mind." I lied and instantly regretted it. You see, Cordelia is not your average human being, and I'm not talking about looks. Cordelia has a way with.....water. She can control water and it reflects on her emotions. She has a necklace and on it there is Poseidon's trident. That controls her powers because it was too strong for her to handle, for example if she doesn't wear the necklace and feels sad or cries, a flood will start, but with the necklace on, the flood won't happen. She never takes off that necklace in fear of hurting someone. She also has a way with emotions. You see, because she is in tune with a very important aspect of nature, she can sense very strong emotions from others if she focuses hard enough.

"Marinette, you know you can't lie to me. Besides, you're a terrible liar in the first place." She giggled, Tell me what's wrong." I knew there was no point arguing with her so I reluctantly complied.

"Alright, I'll tell you after classes end. Meet me at my dorm, and don't tell anyone what happens today. Deal?" I whispered. 

"Deal!" She responded, and we both went back to taking notes.

"Tikki I think we've found our new guardian."  I thought.

"And she won't need a miraculous to protect herself"

P.S: I may have added a little tweak to Cordelia's powers (I added the emotions power)and her being seen as weird by people other than Marinette and the rest of the gang may have been my idea, but the rest of Cordelia's character is the work of the person I have dedicated this chapter to. MarshmallowKitten287, I hope you don't mind the tweaks, you truly are an awesome author.
