Chapter 21

Marinette POV:

"I look forward to being your mentor, Miss Dupain-Cheng." he said, shaking my hand.

"I look forward to being your student, Mr. Agreste." I responded, trying to sound as calm as possible. Gabriel nodded and did something I had never expected him to do. He smiled and started joking around.

"How's my son been doing in school? Has he gotten himself into any trouble?" he said teasingly. I chuckled.

"He's doing great in school, and trust me, the most trouble he's gotten himself into is being late to class and that's almost always my fault." I joked. I had noticed Adrien had been shocked at the fact that his father had started joking around, but as soon as he heard my response, he had joined in.

"Almost always? Mari, you have a reputation for oversleeping, where as I have never overslept." Adrien teased.

"I've gotten better! I'm not almost a half hour late to class anymore!" I defended.

"Yeah, because I've woken you up." Adrien countered. The rest of the time we spent at the Agreste Mansion consisted of a lot of joking and teasing between all of us, Nathalie even joined in eventually. We had gotten back to our dorms and I immediately started squealing with excitement.

"Are you alright Marinette?" Adrien chuckled

"I'M GONNA BE GABRIEL AGRESTE'S INTERN!! I'M SO EXCITED!!!!" I screeched and started jumping around excitedly. I then ran over to Adrien and engulfed him in a hug. "THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOUUUUUU!!!!!"

"You're welcome Marinette" Adrien said while chuckling.

"How did you even convince your dad to let me be his intern?" I asked him, genuinely curious.

"I didn't convince him to do anything Mari, this was all you." Adrien answered while hugging me.

"Thank you Adrien. For everything" I said, yawning.

"You're welcome Mari. Now let's get some sleep before we both make each other late to class tomorrow." Adrien said before smiling and laying down to go to sleep. I did the same before Plagg came over to my side of the dorm.

"You really should tell him." Plagg said. I sighed and rolled over.

"I'm not revealing my identity Plagg." I answered.

"I'm not talking about your identity, I'm talking about telling him how you feel. You already know he's in love with you so you know he won't reject you." Plagg reasoned.

"I know, it's just that....things were just starting to get back to normal, I'm still getting used to the fact that he's Chat Noir. Plus we need to be ready and focused when Hawkmoth strikes, we need to get these new recruits ready and comfortable with their powers. We can't get distracted." I explained. Plagg sighed.

"Kid, if you keep avoiding this, it's just going to get more awkward between you two. It's already becoming a distraction for both of you. Do you honestly want things to go back to normal? Do you really want to go back to living with your crush, not knowing if he likes you back or not? Think about it kid, I'm going to sleep." Plagg said before flying back over to Adrien and going to sleep. I laid in bed for a few hours before falling asleep as well, conflicted and distressed.
