she gave you her umbrella
while she stood in the rain.
she cradled you in her arms
and listened to your cries.
she dried your tear stained cheeks
and kept you warm.
she sang you lullabies
and rocked you to sleep.
she scared away all the monsters
and kept you safe.
she held your hand
through thick and thin.
she pretended to be fine
just to see your smile.
"Mother", as you call her,
never did she ask
for anything in return.
she gave you utmost love
that no one else could ever.
