sam's pov

i woke up around 3pm. before i left to check on colby, i yelled to the roommates that i was leaving so they knew.

i arrived telling the nurse. she said that i couldn't visit him today. seeing other people in the visiting rooms with their loved ones confused me. "er, why are they visiting and i can't?" i asked.
"you said your friend is cole brock?" "yes.." "he might have to undergo surgery. we were going to call a sam golbach soon to-" "yeah that's me. what's going on?" i asked worried.
"well, if cole's heart doesn't start beating faster per minute, there is something wrong. if it doesn't start to show signs of improvement soon, he will have to undergo surgery.." she explained.
"that is why we don't want visitors disturbing him just for today and possibly making it worse."
(yes i know this is not how this really works lol)

the next morning i woke up to sun in my face and some people chatting in the waiting room.

i waited half the day before getting up to ask about colby.
"he is showing signs of improvement. not as much as we hoped but we'll see.. you can see him for a little bit now. he's awake."
the doctor came and got me and we walked to his room. his weak eyes look over my way as i walked over to him. "sam.?" he said quietly with a smile. "hey cutie." i laughed. 

we talked for a few hours. he looked a lot better but that didn't mean anything.
we said our goodbyes. "you can do this colby, i love you."

"hey, can i join?" corey asked
"sure." "did you go see colby today? is he getting better?" "not as much as they hoped.. i don't know what to do corey."
