"Okay what did you do that for?"I looked up, rubbing my cheek that was just hit by someone. Sure enough I see a familiar cheeky face gloating back at me. "You obviously were not paying attention to what I was saying," she casually replied. Just another girl.
"Ji Ah, can't you see I was sleeping? Or are you too drawn into my charming face that you had to slap it?"
Ji Ah smirked. "Oppa, you always let your imagination run with you. Your charm may work with other girls, but to me you'll always be that stupid hyung who's just good at sweet-talking girls and nothing else."
I cringed. This girl clearly did not know what she was talking about.
While patting her on the head, I said calmly, "Okay firstly, since when did we get so close that you can call me oppa? Secondly, my looks speak for itself, thank you very much, so these looks can bring me to many other things as well."
"You know oppa, you'll just dissapoint me even more by saying that."
By now I've gotten used to her ramblings and started to make my way out of the room.
Unfortunately, she did not give up that easily. Gradually I heard her footsteps slowly but surely trailing behind me.
"So you admit it oppa? You're just trying to act cool and all but deep down you're just the stupid old oppa I said you were aren't you?"
Even until we had left the room, she was still rambling on. We had almost reached the entrance to the school, but she was still rambling on.
"You can trust me with that oppa, I'll protect your secre-"
Okay, I had enough with this pretentious girl. Interrupting her, I immediately turned back to her and grabbed her petite body by the shoulders, stopping her from moving further or closer from or to me.
"Okay Ji Ah, right here, right now, I'm going to say confess something to you."
Ji Ah froze by my sudden act and proclaimation.
"Oppa, what are you-"
I rapidly drew my face close to hers. I stopped and stared into her eyes when we were just less than ten centimeters apart of each other. I could feel her breathing accelerating rapidly, and her pulse spiking up. I don't have to have super-hearing to hear that her heartbeat is now as fast as a cheetah running to catch its prey, from previously just walking normally. But hang on, she was talking to me even before wasn't she? Then her heartbeat must have already sped up way more then that then. With this development, I can just tell that it has stretched to much more than she can handle.
I stopped in that position for ten seconds. Then I decided it was enough.
"The truth is, Ji Ah-"
Her expression was one I've seen many times. Expectancy. A girl who had clearly fallen for me but was just trying out a different tactic. As if that could work on me.
I could see that she was still holding her breath. For her, it must have been an eternity. For me, it was just a plain old ten seconds.
"-I was sleepy."
She blinked a few times, as if still digesting what I was saying. Tears slowly welled up in her eyes. She rapidly pulled back. I saw that she had tears in her eyes.
"B- but- Oppa- You were going to say-"
"Say what, Ji Ah?" I simply played along with her sudden shock.
"Oppa, you're just mean!" she screamed while running out of the school with tears dropping everywhere along the pavement.
I smiled. This was just another day's work, I thought.
"Hey you!"
As I headed back into the school, I heard an unfamiliar voice ring out into the air.
I turned back toward the origin of the voice. Hold on, what the hell was that?! It was a giant walking penguin! But wait. When I took a closer look, it was someone dressed in the penguin. It was a girl I have not seen before; I couldn't tell which class she was in.
I flashed her a sheepish smile. "What is it?"
She strode up to my face and said sternly, "You! Do you really not know what you just did?"
I feigned yawning. "Should I?"
"You made her cry, didn't you? Do you play with girls that easily?"
I drew my face closer to hers.
"And what are you going to do about it?"
She seemed a bit taken back when I said that.
"You know I could report this to the disciplinary committee right?"
"Okay firstly, you know how ridiculous you seem, saying that while dressed up in this- thing- I don't know-"
"It's Pororo!" She snapped.
I was confused. "Say what now?"
"Po. Ro. Ro!"
I grimaced. Why am I even doing this?
"ANYWAY! You could report me to the disciplinary committee, but trust me, they already got their hands full with ten girls a day complaining about their hearts getting broken. By this time another one won't really matter to them."
I started walking away.
"Wait!" I heard her call again.
I decided to humor her. Without turning back, I answered her casually.
"What? Don't tell me you like me too now? Look, if you want to try to confess to me or try to approach me, you'll have to queue up first like all the other girls first alright? You can see from the amount of people queuing at counselling and the disciplinary committee how long the queue to meet me is, so you gotta be fair. "
"Well, I do have something to say, oppa," she said in a very different, cutesy voice.
Wait, what is this sudden change?
I decided to turn back to face her again.
"So is this your tactic to try to confe-"
That's when I knew I had made a mistake. That's when I saw it coming. Was that a bird? No, was that a bag? No, it's her shoe coming straight toward me with her kick!
I could only watch helplessly before I was hit by her almighty kick.
WHAM!
Helpless, I feel to the ground, slowly feeling my eyelids close while watching her mutter words while standing on top of me that I could not hear. I then took a nap in the weirdest circumstances I've had to face so far.
This girl... Is different... I thought before I sunk into the darkness for good, knowing that the shame of being knocked out by a girl dressed in a penguin costume will be carried by me forever.
