The moon is at its highest tonight as it shines through the window of our bedroom. It feels strange saying that, our. I never would have even imagined that I'd be in such a situation, being the bride of a beautiful Countess, living in an amazing home. I don't think I can process it all, but to be fair, this did all just happen earlier today.

After the tour of the mansion, inside and outside, she let me explore the garden while she went to her study. I'd never seen so many colourful flowers, the hues and the aromas surrounding me in bliss.

There were fruits and vegetables are off to the side near where she showed me the kitchen was. I'm assuming that's so it's easier for preparing meals and such.

I also found a swing hung on one of the big sturdy trees. It looks old and unsafe but I'm sure I can fix it up. It'd make a perfect place to sit and read or just relax, along with the white gazebo in the middle of it all.

I only noticed that it was getting late when the butler, who I now know is George and is such a sweet man, called me for dinner and lead me to the smaller dining room where a huge assortment of food was laid out. I hadn't ever seen that much food in my life.

Ruby came in soon after me and lead me to the table, pulling out my chair before sitting opposite me. We ate in silence for a while, the food was so amazing I almost cried. This may seem like a normal meal for many but to me, it's a huge privilege to actually have so much food considering where I'm from. And of course out of habit, and the fact that my body isn't used to eating so much, I needed a little to eat which made Ruby give me a slightly concerned look but brushing off anyway.

We had a little conversation, getting to know each other some more. It's still a bit awkward, for the both of us. I mean we barely know each other but we are going to be married and live together. Though I have to admit, the idea is definitely growing on me, she's an amazing person.

After dinner, we decided to get ready for bed, which leads us to now, with me in a beautiful white cotton nightgown. It's a bit see-through, but I don't actually mind, I've never worn anything so soft and expensive in my life so I'm not going to complain. There are some other clothes in the big closest that are mostly hers, with a few dresses she says are for me. She said we'd go out soon so I can get clothing and shoes and accessories, among other things. It's all so overwhelming.

I comb my hair, deep in thought, as I stare at myself in the mirror. I still can't believe this is actually my new life now.

My thoughts are interrupted by her soft hands resting on my shoulders. She smiles down at me when I look up at her, admiring her glorious features. She's in a similar nightgown as me, just not as frilly and a lot sheerer, allowing me to see almost every curve and part of her body, and her tattoos which are another shocking yet intriguing characteristic of hers. Tattoos are very taboo and rare, especially on a woman, but here she is with many beautiful designs on her perfect body.

"Let's go to bed. I can sleep in another room if you feel more comfortable that way. I don't what to force or rush you into sharing a bed with me." She says gently as I stand to face her. She's so sweet and considerate, I'd never thought a vampire would act that way considering their reputation. Something about her seems..different when it comes to that.

"No, it's fine. I'd...actually like to share a bed with you. If you don't mind of course." I answer shyly looking down our bare feet on the rug.

She lifts my head up with her finger so I can see her lips smiling at me as her eyes glitter in the soft light of the moon and dim candles.

"Of course I don't mind, love."

And with that, she guides me to the huge bed that has been prepared for sleeping in while we were having dinner I assume.

The feeling of the bed almost made me moan out loud at its abundant comfort. Never in my life have I been near, let alone in, a bed this soft. I'm used to sleeping on an old flat mattress.

She lays down next to me on her side and looks at me, as if she's studying me and reading my emotions and thoughts, which I think she succeeds in judging by her question.

"Why do you look so overjoyed by being in bed? Are you that tired?" She asks genuinely confused and I can't help but giggle at her adorable expression.

"Yes, I'm tired, but that's not why I'm overjoyed as you put it." I answer as I turn to my side to face her.

'why is this woman so beautiful.'

I sigh as I begin to explain.
"I'm just not used to all this. The soft bed, the beautiful house and clothes, the attention from someone else that isn't a creepy man, it's all so new to me, overwhelming even." She knits her eyebrows probably thinking that I'm not happy with this new adjustment.

"No, I like it, don't worry. I'm just saying that it's a huge jump from what my life used to be, just this morning.
I grew up having close to nothing, barely even making it alive most of the time so this, this is just so different from that." She nods in understanding as her hand slowly makes its way to my cheek, caressing me gently as she looks at me trying to me figure out.

And I'm doing the same as I can't help but wonder how she's so gentle and so different from all the stories we were told about the vampires and people that lived here.

She laughs lightly still looking at me softly. "I'm guessing you want to ask me something as well judging by your lip biting. What's on your mind, Eva?"

'she called you Eva, no one has called you that since your mother...'
My conscience gasps out.

"Well, I...I was wondering why you're so, sweet and kind to me since you're a..a vampire. The things we've been told isn't anything like I've seen here, in both the vampire and Count aspects...."

She smiles and shakes her head.
"Well, what are the stories about this place that you've heard?" She asks gently to show she's not offended by my curiosity.

"I've heard that if you are to be the bride of the Count, you're locked away in this huge place never to be seen again. And that it's worse since he was a vampire, which according to the stories means it's a long life of being treated cruelly and living in misery." I explain slowly trying not to upset her with my words.

She laughs again and I'm not sure if it's a sign showing that she's angry or just finds this humorous.

"I can assure that not all of that is true. Yes, the Count before me was...cruel" she says as she seems to remember something awful about her father before she continues. "but that has got nothing to do with him being a vampire. He was just an awful being himself. And like I've already told you, I want to make you happy with me, and I want to be more involved with the outside world so you needn't worry about anything." Her words are comforting and I can't help but smile at how honest they sound.

Feeling more confident, I ask another question. "What's it like being...a vampire?"

"Well, it's ok I guess but you'd be asking the wrong person if you want to know that."

I look at her confused prompting her to continue.

"I'm not exactly fully, or 'purely' as my father would say, vampire." She grimaces at the part about her father as she explains. "I'm hybrid. My mother wasn't a vampire. The Count married a woman he met and fell in love with when he was travelling and asked her to be his wife instead of marrying a girl from the village. He hated, however, that he got her pregnant before he could turn her into a vampire. That's how I came to be. A hybrid. I can do anything that vampires can, aside from a few things that I can explain later. I mean, I've got a heartbeat, unlike others. It's a strange thing."

She looks at me but seems to be far off somewhere else. All I can do is nod as I take in the new information about her.

'that explains a few things, but not the resentment in her eyes when she speaks of her father.'

I decide to stop the questions here. She looks like she doesn't want to talk too much about the past.

'i wonder why...'

I move closer to her and kiss her cheek bravely before turning onto my other side blushing. Her arm goes around me and we drift off into a calm sleep. The best sleep I've had in the longest time.
