CARTER'S POV!!!
I've decided I'm going to keep him or her. I did get myself pregnant. It's my responsibility to raise them. I haven't told dad yet though... I'm home alone laying on the couch rubbing my stomach. Drawing small patterns with my finger tips. Then there's a knock on the door. I jump up and open it. ASHTON?! "What are you doing here?" I ask him. He pushes through me. "Your pregnant Carter?!" he yells. Caleb... I slowly nod. "AND I HAD TO FIND OUT FROM CALEB?!" He yells I wince. "Ashton..." "CARTER WE ONLY DID IT ONCE! AND YOU JUST HAPPEN TO GET PREGNANT, HOW DO I KNOW YOUR NOT LYING!??" He yells getting extremely close to my face. "STOP YELLING! IT ONLY TAKES ONE TIME YOU IDIOT!" I shout pushing him away. He sits on the couch. I sit next to him but keeping my distance. "Carter what are we gonna do?" he asks. "No! No we! Me! I don't want you and you can't be here and the only we are me and this baby!" I yell at him. "Carter I'm gonna make this easy for you. When this baby is born I'm gonna take them back to erudite." he says calmly. I stare at him wide eyed. "No! ARE YOU CRAZY?! YOUR NOT TAKING MY BABY." I say emphasizing the word my. "Carter I'm trying to help you let me take them." he says. "NO ASHTON NEVER!" I yell louder. "FINE! Be that way! I'll fight you for my baby just wait!" he says storming out pushing my dad. "What was that?" he asks. I just realized my eyes are full of tears. "He's gonna try and take my baby." Is all I say burring my face in my hands. "Carter I'm not gonna let him take... wait your baby? Your keeping them?" he asks. I slowly nod. "I did this to myself it no one else's responsibility but mine." I state. A little smile comes across his face. "I'm glad you realized that Carter." he says. "Dad what if he takes my baby?" I ask sniffling. "Carter I'm not gonna let that happen." "I mean he's an Erudite he may not be exactly smart but people their are they know what their doing." I say new tears coming. "Carter all you did was cry these past few days let's go do something to make you a little happy." he says offering a small smile. I nod smiling weakly. I got to my room and put real clothes on. After initiation I changed into clean clothes. I put in a small amount of makeup and we leave. "Where are we going." I ask. "Well first were just going out to eat with Zeke." He says. "First?" I question. "Then I know how much you miss Caleb, so I think were making a trip into Erudite." he tells me. "Really?! I can't wait to see Caleb!" I say excitedly. We walk till we get to the little dinner and Zeke is there waiting. "What up son?" I ask him. "I prefer not to be called son..." he tells me. "Whatever... Can we just eat I'm starving." I tell them. "Of course you are." Zeke says. I punch his arm. "What?! I'm just saying you should be hungry." is all he says. I just ignore him. We sit down and began talking. "Initiation is over next week!" I say excitedly. "What if you didn't make it?" Zeke says jokingly. "Come one Zeke her parents are Dauntless prodigies." Dad says. We laugh. "Do you think Carter is one?" Zeke asks. "I know she is, but they wouldn't let me near dauntless borns afraid I'll do something to make her rank higher I didn't even get to train this year." "So Carter..." Zeke says. "So Zeke..." I say mockingly. "Have you decided anything about you know..." he trails off. I look at dad he nods. "I'm keeping the baby. I did this it my responsibility. I did get an interesting visit from Ashton today." I say. "What did dick head want?" he questions. "You know what he said? He look me straight in the eye and said Carter I'm gonna make this easy for you when the baby is born I'm taking the baby back to Erudite." I tell him. Zeke chokes on his drink. "Did he really?!" he stares at me. I nod my head. "If he even nears the baby I'm killing him. He's not taking my baby away and I told him that but he said he's gonna fight me for 'his' kid no this baby is mine." I say. "Ashton may be dumb, but Erudite isn't and I'm really scarred he'll find away to take the baby." I say looking down at my stomach. "Were not gonna let him Carter you know that?" I hesitantly nod my head. "What about Andrea and Andrew?" dad questions. Crap! I completely forgot about them! "I feel like they would help Ashton take the baby." I blurt out truthfully. I deeply inhale. "I don't know maybe we should still talk to them I'll go with you." dad says an I nod. "Tomorrow?" I question. He nods. Food finally comes and I quickly inhale it. I was hungry please judge me! "Ready to go to Erudite?" dad questions. I excitedly nod. "Bye Zeke." I say. I began skipping. "Slow down." Dad whines. "Nope. You go fast!" I tell him. "Does that even make sense?" "I think so..." I run up to him and grab his hand and try pulling him. "How is that working for you?" he asks laughing. "Come on dad!" I whine. "Okay okay I'm coming let's go." he tells me. I start running again. We eventually make it to the tracks an I jump on. "So did you tell Caleb?" he question. "Yeah who do you think told Ashton." I roll my eyes. "Ohh..." is all he says. The rest of the ride is silent. We make it and we jump off. We get to Caleb's door and I began knocking "Caleeeb!!" I say in a sing-song voice. He opens the door and I see a girl behind him. "Caleb who is this?" she asks. "My niece." he says smiling at me. "Ohh.... The pregnant one." she says. His smile fades and he winces at her choice of words. I stare at her in shock. "What?" she says "I prefer not to be called 'The pregnant one'. I'm the only one." I tell her. "What at least I'm not lying. You got pregnant by the erudite." She states. I stare at her then look at Caleb. I began walking away. "Carter wait!" Dad says. "Was is something I said?" she asks. "Get out Sarah!" yells Caleb. "Carter please wait!" he yells. I stop. "Why did you tell her?! Why did you tell Ashton?! You know he's gonna try and take my baby now right?!" I yell at him. "Carter I'm sorry please just come back." is all he says. I walk back brushing his shoulder. I go in his apartment and sit down. "Carter I'm sorry I really am." he says. "Caleb he really is gonna try and take my baby. Can he do that?" I ask. He looks at dad and Dad shrugs. "Carter I really don't know." he says. I start tearing up. "But he's not the one pushing this baby out or carrying him or her. He's not gonna take the baby away I don't care if he tries their mine! I'll kill him." I state. They just stare at me. I shrug. "Carter I really am so so sorry." Caleb says guilt written all over his face. "Caleb it fine maybe I'll get to kill someone out of this." I chuckle lightly. He laughs too. When we walk and see Ashton "Finally decided you wanted me to have this baby? Good choice." he says smirking. I didn't say anything but I punched him in the nose and left smiling.
*Tomorrow After Initiation*
"Carter we got to go see Andrea and Andrew." Dad tells me. I groan. "I'm serious Dad I don't trust this." I say. "I know but we have to." he says. I groan again and get up and get ready. we began walking then we finally get to their apartment and I knock. "Hello Carter Four." Andrea says. "Can we come in?" I ask "Of course." she says. We go in and we sit down. "Carter how are you?" she questions. "I'm good but I need to tell you something." I say. "Mhmm..." she says. "Andrea I'm pregnant." I say. A confused look crosses her face. "What does that have to do with me?" she questions. "The father is your son." I say. As soon as that leaves my mouth Andrew walks in. "Carter what are you doing here?" "Andrew she says she's pregnant with our son's child." Andrea says. "Carter our son is in Erudite." he says. "The day before the ceremony." I say. "How do we know your not lying? How do we know you not just the dauntless whore." he spits at me. Dad stands up grabs his shirt collar. "Don't ever call my daughter a whore. I'll hurt you! Your lucky your wife's here I would beat you right now." He spits and tosses him on the floor. Hard! He hisses. "Come on Carter." We began walking to the door we open it and before I walk out I turn around. "This is great. I never wanted you or you son in my baby's life." I say and slam the door.
*One Week Later*
Today are rankings. I have a pretty good feeling I did well. I only had 5 fears. (See what I did there... 4,5,6😏) Those fives fears consist of:
1.) Heights
2.)Kidnapped
3.)My dad leaving
4.) Being attacked by an animal
5.) Thunderstorms
I'm really excited for this all just to be over. Then I can focus on everything else. I talked to dad and we talked to the leader and I'm able to just live with my Dad instead of getting my own apartment. I'm very grateful for. Just then I'm done getting ready Dad walks in. "Are you ready?" he asks. I nod "As I'll ever be." I say. "Are you nervous?" he asks. I nod. "You shouldn't be five." he winks. "Okay Four." I says he frowns at me "Don't call me that." he says. I roll my eyes. "Hey don't roll your eyes at me!" he exclaims. We walk to the cafeteria and I sit with in initiates. The trainers give their speech and the ranks pop up. I start from the bottom working my way. I don't see my name I start getting nervous. I finally get to number one and see my Name with my picture next to it. I stare at it and at that moment I forget everything and I began to shout with joy. I feel a tap on my shoulder and turn around. It my dad. "You beat them." he shouts. "I beat them!" I shout back. He hugs me tightly and I squeeze back. I'm really am happy.
