Emmett (Third-Person POV)

Emmett continues to look into the warm, and very beautiful eyes of Kassie Swan, and he find that he cannot look away. Her eyes seem to harden slightly as he continues to look at her, finding that he is softening a bit for the human girl that he suddenly wants to know. The pink flush of her cheeks makes him soften more, and he finds that her skin looks soft, especially soft for such a strong and fierce person. He realizes that she is actually beautiful, exceptionally so, and is ashamed of himself because he originally thought of her as ordinary, not really an exception. But now he finds that her dark curls frame her face perfectly, her chocolate-brown eyes, a shade darker than Bella's, are beautiful and draw him in, and the flush in her soft cheeks as well as her soft skin make him start to fall. He feels himself falling, falling, and falling, for the human girl in front of him, who is looking at him questioningly.

"I'm sorry," Kassie tells him as she looks down at the ground, suddenly very interested in her shoes. Her calm, soft voice breaks his train of thoughts. He looks up just as she does, and she smiles slightly, and then walks away, leaving him stunned.

He cannot be falling for the human girl, he absolutely cannot. He has Rose, doesn't he?

But suddenly he finds that there is something missing from Rose, something that he thinks he might just find in the human girl, in the small Swan twin. The most beautiful twin, in his opinion.

As he walks over to the table, he sees that Rose is tensed, and ready to get up and out of the cafe. But not out of just the cafe, but out of the school. And he can see why. She doesn't smile when he sits down beside her, and he knows that what he is doing is wrong. He should have never come back to school, and he should stay away from the human girl.

But he find that he doesn't want to, and has suddenly found interest in her, and wants to know everything about her. He wants to get to know her, and he wants the bell to ring already, and for it to be Spanish, so he can talk to her.

It is finally passing period before seventh hour. Spanish. And with Kassie Swan.

Emmett takes a deep breath before entering the classroom, and when he walks in he doesn't dare to breathe in her scent, seeing that she is at her seat, doodling on a notebook. From afar he sees that it isn't just a doodle. It's a picture of someone, though he can't really tell who the person is that she's drawing.

Slowly, he sits down at his desk, making more noise than usual, so as not to make the Swan girl uncomfortable. She doesn't look up from her drawing, and continuously makes line and colors in between some parts of the facial features. He wonders why she doesn't look up or acknowledge his presence, but he can tell that she already knows he is there.

After clearing his throat, he speaks up. "Hello," he says in his musical voice. It takes a long second before Kassie looks up from her drawing, her expression shocked and wary. He doesn't blame her for being wary of him, for what he did to her on her first day, and he smiles slightly so as to calm her down a bit. Her chocolate-brown eyes narrow, full of wariness and fierceness, and then she looks back at her drawing, doodling still. Emmett doesn't back down again, and speaks to her again. "I'm sorry, I didn't get a chance to introduce myself last week. Name's Emmett Cullen, and you must be Kassie Swan." Kassie freezes, her pencil still in hand, and the drawing is frozen in time, no more details are being added as she slowly sets down her pencil. She looks startled as she looks at Emmett, annoyance and frustration clear in her expression and eyes.

She blinks twice, and then clears her throat before speaking again. "H-How do you know my name?" She stammers as her tan cheeks flush with pink as the blood rushes to her face. Emmett chuckles as he tries to ease Kassie into being calm. He shakes his head and looks at her as she looks at him, flushing more by the second.

"Oh, everyone here knows your name. Everyone in this small town has been waiting for your arrival, after your twin sis arrived." Her eyes widen, and her lips pull down into a frown.

"No, I mean why did you call me Kassie?" It's Emmett's time to be startled and confused, and then he raises a brow.

"Do you prefer Kaszandra?" He makes sure to get the pronunciation right, for he remembers that the way her name is spelled is different than the original spelling. She shakes her head furiously, her dark waves flowing over her face.

"No, of course I like Kassie," she replies, her voice soft as she looks up at him. His eyes widen as he realizes he made another slip up. Of course she would point out the obvious, though not another human would have. Except for her sister. But Kassie is more perceptive than her Bella, he realizes. Of course she would be confused as to how he would call her by her nickname preference rather than her full name. He should have said "Kaszandra" at first instead of "Kassie."

"Oh," he says, and she awkwardly looks away, her cheeks flushed crimson as she looks at the front of the classroom.

He looks away, and when he takes another deep breath, he winces as the monster in him rejoices at the smell of her blood. So mouthwatering and alluring to him. He grips the table with his hands, trying not to be too obvious about it, and thankfully, he sees that Kassie doesn't notice.

Ms. Goff gives them a project to work on with their partners, partners that she assigns. And, as fate would have it, Kassie is assigned with Emmett Cullen. Another thrill goes through him at the thought of working with her, and soon the teacher tells them to go on and work on their project, which consists of a small speech in Spanish, about their experience with the language.

Kassie and Emmett receive, as well as the rest of the class, a paper, where they are to write their ideas and then on the back and another sheet of paper, their speech.

As they work, Kassie glances up at Emmett, who is already looking at her. He just can't seem to keep his eyes off of her, and she realizes it's too late to look away.

Then she blurts out, "Did you get contacts?" His eyes widen as he is startled by her question.

"No," he replies, and then she shakes her head, muttering an apology under her breath, then continues to write on the piece of paper.

As they keep working, they find that they work together well, despite their differences, and once they are done, they sit quietly. Then Emmett asks something that stuns Kassie, causing her to look up at him.

"It's not nice about the snow, is it?" He asks, and she shakes her head, her smile coming onto her face before she can seem to stop it, and he finds himself in a trance as she smiles a lovely smile.

"No, I like the snow and the cold of this town, unlike my twin," she replies, and again he mentally face-palms. He made another slip up.
