I am so sorry everyone, for switching the vehicles. I totally forgot that they were using Kassie's car instead of Bella's truck. I meant to use Kassie's, so the story will go on with the van almost colliding with Kassie's car.

Sorry for the confusion, and I hope that I cleared everything up for you.

Hope y'all enjoy this next chapter!

Third-Person POV (Emmett)

Emmett and his siblings get out of the car, and immediately his eyes go to the small Swan twin, and somehow, in the back of his mind, a voice tells him to go over there. To talk to her and make conversation, so that he can get to know her better. But he shakes the thought away. He cannot do that to Rosalie.

Rosalie puts her hand into Emmett's, and squeezes, and when he looks down at her, he can see that her golden eyes are full of love. His frozen heart drops for some reason he does not know about yet, but he only smiles at her, putting his free arm around her shoulders. She leans into him, content, and he looks back at the Swan girls. The small twin catches his eyes, and immediately he can see a hint of a smile in her bright, chocolate-brown eyes. Then her expression changes to become neutral, and she looks away before he can decipher the change.

Out of the corner of his eye, Emmett can tell that Edward is looking at the younger twin. For some reason, this makes him angry, and a growl comes out of his throat and his mouth. Rosalie raises her head and her brows furrow as she looks at her mate.

"Emmett, what is wrong?"

Emmett does not answer her, but looks instead at Edward. You will not hurt Kassie, I won't let you, he thinks to Edward. Edward's eyes widen in surprise, not expecting him to defend the young Swan girl. But Edward shakes his head, his eyes still wide, and turns back to the Swan girls.

Emmett's frozen heart starts to thaw out the moment he sees Kassie, and for one second he hears a heartbeat, but what he does not know is that it came from his heart. He mistakes it for some other human near him, but even his siblings notice, questioning it immediately.

"Did your heart just beat, Em?" Edward asks, shocked.

"You heard that, too?" Alice asks, shaking her head. "I can't believe it. How is that even possible?"

"That cannot be," Jasper agrees, his brows furrowing in concentration as he tries to decipher what in the world could have made Emmett's heart beat. Surely not some other vampire was here, that had that kind of gift. They would have noticed by now.

"It must have been another human that was near," Emmett says firmly, and everyone keeps their mouths shut. They do not want to upset Emmett any more than he already is.

Just then Alice freezes, and Edward's eyes widen as he reads her thoughts that contain a vision. A vision that involves an accident, as well as the two Swan twins.

A van, known to be Tyler Crowley's, is heading towards the Volvo of Kassie Swan, and it ends with one of the girls getting hurt. But it's not who they think gets hurt. Not the klutzy twin.

It's her sister.

None other than Kassie Swan.

And the vision shows that she does not survive.

"Alice, what is wrong?" Jasper asks, concerned for his mate and wife, shaking her shoulders. Once she gets out of the vision, she looks at Emmett, her eyes glossy and worried for the small twin. Edward explains the vision to the others, and they too are worried for Kass.

"NO!" Emmett exclaims, just as Edward finishes explaining the vision. Just then, they hear the screeching tires of the minivan.

"Bella, move!" They hear Kassie shout, and they turn to the twins, eyes wide. Emmett tenses, not knowing what to do. He cannot expose his family, but he cannot let the human girl die, either.

"Kass, no-!" Kassie pushes Bella out of the way, and puts herself in her place, squeezing her eyes shut, waiting for the impact.

The tires shriek, closer to her now, and she curls up into a ball.

"Kassie!" Bella screams, but Kassie cannot respond. She is frozen in shock and fear of the oncoming destruction.

Emmett runs towards the girl, with vampire speed, to save her from her death. From her fate. He doesn't listen to his family's protests, and saves her, pushing her out of the way of her car. Her legs swing to the side, and she almost hits her head on the gravel, but Emmett prevents that from happening.

He holds Kassie close to him as he pulls her away from the oncoming van, throwing his hand up and touching the van with impossible strength, stopping the van instantly.

When he looks down at Kassie, he sees that her eyes flutter open, revealing her chocolate-brown irises, and soon they meet his golden ones.

"Kassie, are you alright?" He asks her, tone anxious and concerned for the human girl. She seems unable to form words, and when she does, she asks a question that Emmett knows he couldn't avoid, but he still hoped that she wouldn't ask.

"How did you get over here?" She asks, her tone confused and awed, with a hint of annoyance mixed into it.

"I was near you," he insists, pleading her with his golden eyes, dazing her for a second, and then she shakes her head.

"No, I saw you, Emmett Cullen. You and your siblings were on the other side of the parking lot. Far away from my sister and I near our car."

He sighs, and then his golden orbs grow intense as he looks down at her once more, pleading with his expression and tone as he says, "Please, Kass?"

She scowls, frowning and narrowing her eyes at him. He can tell that she is upset, and that she wants the truth. Emmett knows that she deserves the truth, from him, but he cannot tell her. He is not only afraid of her reaction, but for the fact that he cannot risk exposing himself and his family. Not after what Carlisle and Esme built for them, and especially not wanting the Volturi to get involved in this mess.

"No, you will have to tell me later, you hear me? I need an explanation, I cannot lie for you without knowing the truth and why I have to lie to the others, especially my sister," she says firmly, not allowing the topic to be discussed further, and she moves away from him. He scoots away, far away from her now, aware of his siblings' eyes on him and the human girl. Especially Rosalie, his mate. The one who is supposed to be the love of his life, his mate. His happily ever after. How will he explain to her his actions and an explanation as to why he saved the girl?

Especially when he cannot reason with himself and figure out why he had a sudden urge to protect the small human girl and save her from her death.

And he knows it was besides risking exposure.

Because all the time he was thinking:

Not her, not her.
