Kassie's POV
"Kass, can you hear me?" My friend, Mara, asks me, interrupting me of my thoughts. I blink and mutter an apology before asking her what she said.
Lately, for the past month, Emmett Cullen has been ignoring me, and Edward Cullen to my sister. For one thing, I am glad that Edward is staying away from my sister, but I also don't like it because I can tell that my sister likes him, even though she won't admit it herself.
I don't understand why Emmett's ignoring me, yet at the same time, I do. And I understand him more than I thought.
He must ignore me because of what I wanted to know, and he didn't tell me. Emmett probably doesn't want to have anything to do with me now.
It's confusing.
It has been a while since he has attempted to make conversation with me, and somehow it makes me upset, though I don't understand why.
Last time I tried talking to him was a few weeks ago, the day after the accident, and he barely replied when I said, "Hello, Emmett." All he did was nod and turn back to his work, not even really acknowledging my presence.
Because of that, this guy in my class, Domingo, keeps talking to me and I can tell already that he's trying to flirt. He's a nice guy, and kind of cute, but I had to tell him that I'm not interested. Nevertheless, he comes up to me in Spanish class and talks to me like he didn't hear what I told him about not being interested.
Bella once cornered him and told him not to bother me, but nonetheless, he comes near me, though I think he's scared of her. This is amusing, because Bella isn't scary. No matter how much she tried to scare me when we were younger, she never was able to. She just doesn't really have it in her.
"I said that someone's looking at you," Mara says, nodding to the other side of the cafeteria. Her smirk is evident as she sees my eyes widen. I look to where she was looking a second ago, and see Emmett looking at me, some intensity in his eyes. I don't understand why that look of intensity is there, but no matter what, I don't back down. I stand my ground and wait until he looks away, which he does, only a moment later.
That sure doesn't make me nervous, totally. Just gotta act like he isn't even here. It's that easy.
Only thing is: I can't pretend that he isn't there. I can't seem to forget about last month. The look he gave me, and not only that, the fact that he didn't give any explanation whatsoever as to how and why he stopped the van from hitting me that day.
