Sure enough when an hour was up Summer took over the store and Jey was waiting outside for me.

"Alright. Prove you're not as bad as people say."

I saw him smile. He had changed his clothes and I assumed he showered because his hair didn't look greasy and he didn't smell like whatever he had been drinking. I had to hand it to him. He looked good.

"Come on. I have a surprise for you."

Great.

He took my hand and lead me a few blocks down the street before leading me into an ally.

"Where the hell are we?"

"Relax. I come here all the time."

Of course he did. So far, I wasn't impressed.

"And what exactly is here?"

"The best burgers in the state." I guess he could see my skepticism because he smirked and shoved open a beat up door and lead me inside.

I looked around and I couldn't believe it. It was dimly lit but I could see a bunch of tables with candles on them. There was a small stage where people were doing an open mic night.

Jey lead me to a table. He pulled my chair out for me so I could sit down. I admit I was slightly impressed. I watched as he waved over one of the waiters. He ordered us drinks and each a burger with fries. He ordered something else but he had whispered it to the waiter so I had no clue what it was.

"I had no idea this place was here."

"Most people don't. They don't advertise it's all by word of mouth. They're open 24/7 so it's great for midnight snacks. So, Wren. What do you like?" Jey leaned forward, his elbows resting on the table.

"Oh...uh...well I read alot...I'm a huge Harry Potter and Lord Of The Rings nerd...I write alot...I have a couple horses..." I sipped my drink.

"And you swim. Only someone who loves swimming would be at the lake at midnight to swim."

I laughed softly. "Yeah...that to."

"So what do you write?"

"Oh uh...poetry mostly...well technically lyrics but I never get around to making them into songs." I watched as he nodded and smiled. "What about you?"

Jey shrugged. "You know what I'm into."

I rolled my eyes. "Come on. I'm sure it's not all bad stuff."

"Alright. I'll tell you after we're done eating." He smiled at me while our food was set down. Along with a rather large chocolate shake.

"Ugh. Fine." I smiled shaking my head a bit before digging into my food.

These were the best damn burgers I've ever had.

"Told ya they're the best. Try the shake."

I looked at the large glass before taking a drink. It was delicious, except the brain freeze. I heard Jey laugh a bit before shoving another straw into the shake and taking it to take a drink.

"So do you want dessert?" Jey stacked our plates moving them to the side.

"Uh sure...what do they have?"

"Well their lava cake is my favorite."

"Seriously? I love lava cake. I always want to make it but my brother says I'll end up burning myself."

Jey smiled and ordered us a lava cake to split. I got distracted by the people taking turns performing but my attention was drawn back when the cake was set down. It smelled and looked amazing. I noticed Jey was busy folding something. He saw me looking and shoved it in his pocket before handing me a spoon.
