_________________________________It was a couple of days, before Ladybug would hear word again from Chat Noir.
But she got to hear of his plots and activities rather frequently.
The news was alight with buzz and talk of the recent robberies. Theories being thrown left and right as the masked cat's silhouette seemed plastered to every screen. The people were growing uneasy with the cat's unusual behavior. And growing antsy as to why their heroine hasnt put a stop to it yet...
Meanwhile, Marinette herself was stressing as well. Trying to connect the dots she had no idea where to even place.
Chat Noir mentioned deadlines to Ladybug. Refused to give back his stolen goods, which was out of character enough as it was. He never had an interest in making money, or else the entire city would of likely already be bankrupted. So he couldnt be selling his stolen items. Was he working for someone else...?
Marinette thought of the prideful cat. No...definitely not. Not even for some kind of payment would she guess Chat Noir stoop as low in his mind as offering his services to some other power. After all, he prided himself on being the lone alley cat...
Marinette needed to get to the bottom of this. Before it grew into something she couldnt control.
The stress was eating away at the young woman. And it was obvious in the way she chewed at her stubbed finger nails, eyes glancing around almost nervously as she and Alya walked along the sidewalk.
Her friend raised a brow, before pushing Marinette's hand from her mouth, causing the girl to startle.
"Wh-wha?!"
Alya sighed, shaking her head.
"Girl, in all my time knowing you, which is alot, ive never seen you so stressed and tired. There are bags under your eyes, and if i didnt know better i think you're expecting some assassin to jump out of the alley any second! You passed your test, and your grades are doing fine! Whats getting into you?"
Marinette sighed, her fingers fiddling and combing through her let down hair. It was a cold morning, hence why she wore her cute sweater and leggings. People were milling about, a gentle breeze in the air as scarves were pulled tighter, or jackets zipped closed. The shy itself even wore a blanket, as if cold as well, blocking out the sun with a thin sheet of clouds. But yet, the heroine felt almost hot and sweaty with her unease as her boots crunched on fallen leaves.
"Its just...anxiety i guess..." over a cat who destroys Paris on a weekly basis.
Alya sighed again, patting her friend's shoulder as they neared a little cafe.
"Well, invest in getting a stress ball. Because youre running out of nail to chew off! But for now, lets invest on getting a bite to eat, yea?" Alya laughed, Marinette even cracking a smile as the two entered the cafe. The delicious mells of food that hit them, as well as the warmth that washed over was a welcome feeling indeed.
