Tomato Baby
Scarlet sat back on her heels, panting hard. She surveyed the now mulched flower beds with a sense of satisfaction, even as nervous excitement crept around her stomach, fluttering like a cage of trapped butterflies.
Swiping her mulch-black hands down her red sweatshirt, Scarlet stood up, looking around proudly at the farm. She and Wolf had had a slightly tough time adjusting after everything that had happened, and showing Wold how to work all the equipment and animals had taken a while, and it had taken them a bit to adjust to him, but finally, everything was as it should be. Better, she thought will a look at the gold band on her finger.
The sun was just starting to peak over the horizon, flooding the sky with ribbons of gold and pinks. Wolf would love it. He always admired the sunrises, after all, he'd only seen so many on Luna. She smiled wryly, thinking of the enchanted look he had on his face the first time he'd seen a real sunset.
Turning to walk toward her farmhouse, Scarlet swallowed her nerves. She instead focused on the elation that ballooned in her stomach everytime she thought of her little secret. Well, she'd known only known for a few days, so she didn't know if it was really a secret, but it certainly felt like one to her.
Pushing the door open with her shoulder and kicking it back behind her, Scarlet strode into the sitting room and collapsed on the couch, even more tired than usual. Subconsciously, she laid a hand on her stomach, a small smile playing on her lips. Her ballooning happiness filled her not-quite lonely, and yes, slightly swollen stomach.
A baby. Just the thought of it made Scarlet shiver in excitement, happiness, anticipation, and definitely some nerves. She wondered if she would be a good mother, as good a parent as Grandmere was to her. The thought of Grandmere sent and all too familiar pang into Scarlet's heart, and she wished that her father's mother was here to see her granddaughter become a mother.
After a few minutes, Scarlet deemed herself well rested, forcing her heavy limbs up. She made her way to the kitchen with a basket of previously collected eggs, humming a tune. Running her hands under cold water to rinse off the mulch, she splashed her face to try and startle some energy into her bones. Patting her face with one hand, Scarlet grabbed a pan with the other and prepared to make Wolf, and herself, and a nice breakfast.

The door slammed shut as Wolf walked into the house, making sure to wipe his feet outside. Scarlet had had multiple conversations about tracking in mud and was glad he finally was getting the message.
Scarlet watched as he used the back of his hand to wipe the sweat off his face, but it only served to spread a smear of dirt across his forehead. Scarlet smirked at his disheveled appearance and reached up to brush away a lock of hair stuck to his forehead. In response, he reached up and grabbed her hand as it came down. Light as a butterfly, he pressed his lips to the silver band on her finger, making a bit of heat rise to her cheeks happily.
"Good morning Scar." he said, his smile making the dirt on his face even more apparent.
Laughing, Scarlet reached up on her tippy-toes and rubbed at the stubborn smudge with the sleeve of her hooding, frowning in concentration. Grinning shyly, Wolf turned up his head suddenly and kissed her, catching her by surprise.
"Go sit down, I have breakfast," she ordered, pulling away to pop into the kitchen and grab the bacon, egg, and tomato sandwiches Wolf loved.
Balancing a plate in each hand, Scarlet sat down next to Wolf on the couch, dropping a plate in his lap. Eyes lighting up at the sight of his favorite breakfast food, Ze'ev immediately picked up the breakfast sandwich, taking a huge bite before mumbling, "Hank oo Car-et."
