aphmau sat on Aaron's couch, her head buried into his shoulder and deep in thought. the movie they had picked for their date night playing distantly in the background. thoughts of what the dolls had said rattling in her head, sympathy for the two boys filling her chest along side the sting behind her eyes and tears dripping off her lashes. in her mind, it wasn't fair. they had been ripped from their lives, their families and even each other.

noticing his girlfriends saddened face he reached over to lift her chin and connect their lips. at the contact aph sighed, tension slipping away slowly, melting out of her as the soft, gentle kiss calmed her raging mind. but sadly, oxygen is an essential part of life, so they had to brake their sweet kiss.

smiling up at the boy she had grown to love oh so dearly she sighed a stuttering breath.

"thanks.... I needed that"

aaron smiled at his soulmate with a sympathetic smile and reached out, taking her hand in his own.

"I know you feel bad for what happened aph, but it wasn't your fault. they were just in the wrong place at the wrong time.... Irene I know that sounds terrible, but its true. they didn't deserve to die the ways they did, no one does, but it happened. we cant change the past babe, but we can help zane and travis by finding out where zanes mother hid those photos."

aphmau's eyes filled with more tears, her head nodding lowly.

"y-yeah... okay"

pulling the note she had found in zanes box out of her pocket she read over the words thoughtfully.

" have any idea what it means by 'ticking of days'?"

she asked him, having no idea to what it could mean.

"maybe its a clock"

he replied after a moments thought.

"that would make sense"

"but what clock? there are like... twenty in this house"

aaron exclaimed, throwing his hands in the air dramatically.

"oh stop it you... I'm not sure... I wonder"

aphmau jumped off of her bed and headed toward the stairs. trotting down the stairs she headed straight to the lounge where she knew her mother was.

"mom?"

she said upon entering the room, causing her mother to lift her head at the sound of her daughters voice.

"yes sweetie?"

"do you know if any really old clocks were left in the house from lets say.....two hundred and seventy odd years ago?"

"oh my... that's a specific amount of years darling. I cant be sure...why? I'm positive a clock that old wouldn't work anymore even if it was here"

panic settled in the younger womans chest, she couldn't tell her mother about travis and zane. she'd think she was crazy

"school project. we have to wright a report on an object made in the 17th century."

she supplied, mentally patting herself on the back for coming up with such a believable story.

"oh.. well in that case, I'm sure you could check the attic and basement. if there's any old antique clocks laying around that's where they would be"

she answered taking a sip of her tea.

"thanks mom"

the young girl said leaning over to kiss her mothers cheek before darting out of the room.

along the way she bumped into aaron. grabbing his arm she dragged him to the basement with her.

{ time skip brought to you by me being a lazy lil' shit ; 3 }

after searching both the attic and basement and finding nothing aphmau felt a wave of sadness overcome her.

"nothing... we found nothing...."

she whispered falling back on her bed, staring at the ceiling.

aaron took a deep sigh and looked out the window he was leant up against. slowly his eyes widened with realization.

"oh my Irene..."

"what?"

"aph, it isn't a clock we need... its a sun dial!"

excitement laced in his voice as he pulled the girl over to her balcony window.

"look!"

looking down at where he was pointing hope sparked in her chest at what she saw.

a beautiful sun dial sat in the centre of the garden, blue roses, forget me nots and sweet peas spiralled around its base, curling around the ankles of the angel holding the dial above his head as he sat on the grassy earth.

running out to the garden both teens stopped at the dial taking in the details they had missed from afar;

the angel was a young boy and had wavy hair that was tinted gold at the roots and tips, the lapis crystals in his eyes sparkled in the sun making a beautiful shimmer on the petals of the flowers around him.

on closer inspection they noticed a stone harp at his feet. a single heart carved into the back. aaron approached the harp and pressed down on the heart as hard as he could before a secret compartment opened up. inside lay three items. pictures.

the first was of a boy matching the angel perfectly. his big blue eyes glittering with happiness and joy. lips spread in a wide grin. flipping the picture around they found a name written in messy cursive scrawl; 'Garroth ro'meave, aged 18 born December 17th 1768 passed august 28th 1786.'

the second was of a boy with a messy mop of brown hair and the lightest set of baby blue eyes the pair had ever seen. a wicked smirk plastered his youthful face, showing that he was obviously a very cheeky and playful soul. on the back, in the same messy scrawl, was written; 'Laurance zvahl, aged 19 born may 3rd 1767 passed august 29th 1786'

the final picture was of a large meadow full of many different flowers, surrounded by grand oak trees and stunning berry bushes. on the back there was yet another messy scrawl of writing'

Roses hidden behind thin glass,

Loosely held by frames of brass

A withered rose cannot stay

So, this one you must cut away.

smiling widely at one another they felt extreme joy overcome them.

they had found it.
