chapter 12

Jade's POV

Beck thinks he can play me, well two can play that game. Beck was gripping the steering wheel so tightly that his knuckles turned ghostly white. I was riding shotgun so I placed my hand on his shoulder.

"Easy babe, I was just kidding," I said softly and he looked at me, a weak smile forming as his pink lips parted.

"Is Karaoke Dokie fun?" Fallon asked as Beck drove to my house. "Definitely, it's where Jade slayed her performance and shut up some mean girls," Beck said and I smirked proudly.

"Yay! Jadey's the best!" Fallon cheered. "Will we see them today?" Fallon asked as she wrinkled her nose.

"Probably, one of their fathers owns the clubs and there's the karaoke competition today," I answered.

I felt like gagging upon the thought of Hayley and Tara's singing.

Although Hayley's father lifted the ban that prevented me and Cat from singing there, that didn't mean Hayley and Tara would welcome us back with open arms. Correction: they'd welcome Beck back with open arms (Maybe more than arms), but me? No way.

"You're gonna kick their asses right?" Fallon said. "Language Fallon, but of course she will," Beck said in between laughter.

"I learn from Jade," Fallon said as she folded her arms. Beck laughed and I did too, but I couldn't help but realise how I was negatively affecting Fallon.

I was horrible, she'd be better off without me. I stayed silent the rest of the way home, thinking about how I messed up the lives of everyone who loved me.

---

When we reached home, I went straight to my room to get change. After much consideration, I decided on a short black sleeveless top with black tights and a skirt. I put on Beck's leather jacket that I was wearing earlier as well, taking my phone out from my bag.

"You okay? You seem down." I turned around, startled by Beck, who was standing in the doorway.

"Yea, just lots to think about," I said vaguely. He raised his eyebrows but said no more, he knew I didn't want to talk.

"I need my clothes babe," he said as he walked in.

I didn't know why but I felt really overwhelmed at that moment and I rushed forward and embraced Beck. He wrapped his arms around my waist and whispered comforting words.

I liked how he didn't even know why I was sad and yet his kind, gentle words were still perfect and always made my day.

"Jadey? Are you okay?" I looked up and saw Fallon in the doorway. She was wearing a light green dress with black boots that were similar to mine. "Yea Fal, I'm good. You look so cute," I said as she smiled.
