Chapter 17

Tori's POV

I don't know why I went to visit Beck. Okay, that's a lie. I went because part of me felt guilty about the whole situation. The other part, as I said earlier, wants Jade's forgiveness.

I stood tentatively in the doorway as Cat said, "Leave." Robbie held Cat close and nodded in agreement. Andre didn't look at me, he simply stared at the wall, his back facing me but he too nodded.

"What's wrong guys?" Beck asked and Jade whispered something. Beck's muscles instantly tensed and his veins were protruding.

"Shh, baby it's okay," Jade soothed. "You're the one who got us in this mess!" Beck shouted, "Haven't you done enough? Just leave." Beck too turned away, leaving only Jade watching me carefully.

"You're not here to finish us off, are you?" Jade said softly, her eyes still on me. Her voice had a sudden gentleness to it, as if she pitied me. As if she, the seemingly cold-hearted girl, had finally some sympathy for me. She was the only one, who cared.

"No, of course not," I replied. "Then why?" Jade asked simply.

"I'm here to apologise, and to make sure Beck's okay," I said as I tried to stay calm. You could feel the animosity in the room. The tension was so strong, you couldn't cut it with a knife.

The rest refused to engage in conversation with me, only leaving Jade who stared at me blankly. "Right," Cat said sarcastically. Someone finally spoke, only a single, bitter word.

"Really," I tried to be persuasive.

"Why? So you can tell Moose and report that Beck's okay? So he can be beaten up again? Tori, don't you think you've done enough?" Jade spoke, her voice cracking. Jade sounded so hurt and betrayed, I hated myself.

I did this, the only thought in my mind read.

I rendered Beck helpless here because of my clouded judgement. I broke Jade's heart by ripping Beck away from her. I left all my old best friends here, to cry over Beck.
