I can assure you that action films are still in good hands these days and one proof of that is the awesome action=thriller VENGEANCE (I AM VENGEANCE here in the U.S.) which featured former wrestling bad ass Stu Bennett who has now become a rather bad ass action star. Helmed by director Ross Boyask, the thriller debuted late this summer to glowing reviews from the masses (mine included) and a sequel was announced immediately. Then the real fun began as the cast was announced and we learned that Vinnie Jones had joined the cast as the new villain to take on Bennett's character John Gold. Even more awesome is that JAILBREAK and NIGHTSHOOTERS star Jean-Paul Ly was added and will be kicking dubious amounts of ass along with Bennett for this one. Now, City On Fire has announced that principle photography has wrapped on the sequel and that it is now entering post-production. With this, we can only hope that we will be able to see the goods soon in terms of first look footage from the film. In the meantime, the website also offered up this rather tasty teaser poster which sports both Bennett and Jones looking to double down on vengeance. Take a look at the two bad asses below! The poster was making the rounds at this year's American Film Market. Official Synopsis: Former wrestling superstar turned action sensation Stu Bennett returns as "Vengeance 2 follows the continuing exploits of former special-forces soldier John Gold, who is given the opportunity to bring Sean Teague – the man who betrayed his team on their final mission in Eastern Europe several years ago – to justice. Gold would cheerfully see Teague dead, but he is convinced to help transport him to a military prison to pay for his crimes. Along the way, Gold will have to fight off Teague's team who are attempting to extract him, as well as a sniper seemingly hell-bent on killing Teague before he can be secured.
Besides Bennett, Jones and Ly, there are some substantial cast members joining all the fun in the likes of Mark Griffin returning as Frost, Katrina Durdan as Jen Quad, Phoebe Robinson-Galvin (BLACK SITE, THE DIVISION) as Kate Lynch, Sam Benjamin as Shapiro, Jennifer Lee Moon a Stiles, Jacob Anderton as Plachecki, Bentley Kalu as Renner, Jessica Jane-Stafford as Pearl, Joe Egan as Gunnar, Greg Burridge as Price, Law Plancel as Kendrick, Lee Charles as Maynard, Tony Cook as Drake and Morgan James as Brookes. Ly will be playing an ally to Bennett and is named Kelso.
Director Ross Boyask, who helmed the first installment, returns behind the camera for the sequel and also penned the script. Producing the film are Diane Shorthouse and John Adams and star Stu Bennett is executive producer. Evolutionary Films' VENGEANCE 2 will hit next year!
While we wait patiently (or impatiently) to see some footage, take a look at the official trailer for the first film which is now on Blu-Ray, DVD and Digital from Lionsgate Home Entertainment!
