"No matter what you say, you can't deny the soothing textures and comfort that mud brings." Braveheart tilted his head with a big smile.

"Ugh." Trident growled. "This is dumb, and gross."

"And yet you want to be my girl friend." Braveheart sneered to the Seawing.

Trident laid in a puddle of mud next to him. It had just rained recently, and with the war being done, they could finally come out and play safely. They didn't care if anyone saw them. Braveheart was so happy he could finally bring her out here.

"I don't see the appeal." Trident looked at her mud stained claws. Her deep blue scales were only visible on her top half. She leaned into him and nuzzled her face into his chest. "But it makes you happy."

"Well, we could go flying if you want? We probably don't need to do it at night anymore." Braveheart wrapped a wing around her and twined their tails.

They were in the northern reaches of the Mudwing kingdom, not far from the ocean.

"I want to take you swimming." Trident butted in quickly. Standing quickly as best she could, but she toppled over from the mud sealing her claws in the unstable terrain.

Braveheart caught her and helped her out. "Yeah, but we have the lake back home. We can swim all the time."

"Yes, but now we can swim in the sea!" She bounded with joy as she escaped the sticky prison of the mud.

Braveheart smiled to himself as he chased after her. She was trying to wipe the mud off her scales but it just kept smearing.

"Ugh, hurry, lets go before this starts drying."

He stopped and grabbed a clawful of mud. "She just doesn't understand what we have."

Trident whipped her head around and glared at him. He just smiled back sarcastically, and threw the clump of mud at her. She dodged it and snarled playfully.

They took flight and headed east. Careful to avoid any patrols just in case any showed up. The flight was short as the sea came into view over the swamps quickly.

Braveheart looked over and saw the pure joy that was spreading over Trident's face. She had been wanting to swim in the ocean since the day she hatched. He brushed her wing carefully with his in the air. She looked over at him and smiled to her.

"Do you think my parents would allow us to be dating?"

Braveheart shook his head a little bit in confusion. "But I thought-" then he realized she was speaking rhetorical. "Well I know some of the queens don't like it, but that's why we have Mother. She care's for us and says love is special like us."

"Yeah," she said rather unconvincingly. "I guess I just wonder how they would respond to meeting you. Of course first they have to be alive I guess."

"Hey now, the war is over and we can start a new life. We don't have to worry about any of that stuff anymore. Don't make me tackle you into the water!" Braveheart inhaled deeply. Puffing his chest and trying to looking menacing.

"Alright, alright, I'll stop being all melancholy. No need to flex those big muscles on silly me." She laughed and dived for the sea. Braveheart followed close behind her.

Though, he was a bit clumsy in his dive, he admired seeing the love of his life breach the waves of the sea. He knew her excitement in exploring was the biggest joy she had. She wanted to be an explorer who helped open up borders between the tribes, but she also wanted to search for ancient ruins that may have been long forgotten to time. She even had a theory about where the old Night Kingdom may have been. Of course everyone teased her about that theory.

Braveheart dove through the waves. The salty water stung his eyes and nostrils, he tried to blink to see better. It took a moment, but he adapted to the feeling pretty quickly. He looked around, trying to find Trident in the seemingly infinite ocean.

Suddenly, something tackled him from behind. He twisted around and saw the beaming look on Trident's face. He was much bigger than her, but this was her element.

Mudwings could thankfully hold their breath for a long time, and she knew not to hit his chest too hard.

He managed to break free and chase her, but she was gone in an instant. She was fast. He searched, but her blue scales helped her blend in.

She kept making her hit and run attacks on him as he failed to catch her. She was too fast for him down her.

Focusing, he tried to find any sign of her, movement, bubbles, or whatever would give her away.

Then suddenly, there!

There was a flicker of something shining.

She must be so excited she's forgetting her luminescent scales.

He smiled, turning in the water as if he didn't notice her. He kept his focus on his ears now. He heard something approaching and he knew it was her.

Spinning around, he dodged her, she looked surprised as he grabbed her and brought her down to the sand embankment. They crashed playfully as he held her down. Wrestling like they always did with all of their friends growing up.

Finally he got her pinned, holding her down beneath him, she laid on her back as she breathed heavily. Of course he was starting to strain a little bit, but he could hold his breath for up to an hour, so he was fine. He felt a little guilty for beating her, she was competitive, and this was suppose to be her world. But he was always a good fighter, a brave fighter.

She flashed in Aquatic at him. No fair.

He beamed as a few bubbles left his mouth.

The Seawings had these beautiful luminescent scales on their bodies that flashed. Apparently they had their own language by using this as a form of communicating underwater. Their Seawing teacher back home taught them both the language so he could understand her underwater.

I love you. She flashed at him.

Now this was unfair, he couldn't say those three words back to her underwater, she was hoping he'd let her go and swim to the surface to tell her, but that was her trick the whole time.

Instead of falling for her ploy, he leaned forward and they touched their noses together. A tender kiss under the sea.

I hate that you know me so well. She smiled after her pulled away.

They starred into each other's eyes for a moment longer.

Suddenly, there was movement to his right. Braveheart feared an angry Seawing guard, and the first thing his noticed was the glinting point of a sharp spear aimed right for Trident. He threw her behind him and unfurled his wing to obscure the attackers aim.

The attacker speared through his wing, but the point struck into the side of Trident's right arm.

Anger swelled in his veins and he twisted around, using his wing to wrestle the spear from the attackers claws. For a moment, it worked. However, the attacker was skilled and maintained a hold with one claw.

Braveheart used that to his advantage, ignoring the pain in his right wing. He lunged to grapple with the attacker, he could get a good look at them with the swirling sand from their scuffle.

Trident tried to flashing him in Aquatic, but it seemed the attacker was unresponsive.

Then in one of the flashes, his he noticed sandy scales that blended in with the oceans shallow floor.

What is a Sandwing doing here, underwater?!

(Oh, a Sandwing attacking under the water, wonder what this entails for our courageous lovers. I'm having a lot of fun writing this story thus far, and I am aiming for a finished story. Well, I'll try to get the next one out a bit early, and I hope everyone is enjoying it.)
