Somewhere in the Kingdom of the Sea

Braveheart felt someone gently pushing him. Calling his name, then changing to shaking him. He choked and caught himself on the stones. To his right, Trident was supporting him. To his left Tidepool seemed concerned, but kept space between them.

"I am sorry." Braveheart choked.

"You are fine. I've seen post traumatic stress before." She jabbed a claw at the other guard. "Give him some fresh water."

The guard reluctantly handed over a drinking skin. Braveheart thanked him and took a drink to refresh his sudden thirst.

He couldn't help but shake a little. He hasn't had an episode in over a year. He wondered why now it was triggered. Maybe the anxiety in loosing his love. He gazed at Trident with worry. She was pressed against him with concern in her eyes, her claw resting on his chest to hold him up. Though, he knew that her trying to steady herself upon him. She was raised with the family since birth. She never saw the war, but she knew it was terrible. Braveheart wasn't the only one.

Looking back at Tidepool, he bowed his head and thanked her. "I don't know what came over me. Forgive me."

"As far as I am concerned your off the hook. I just need to ask you some questions about Surge." She gave Braveheart a moment to collect himself. "In case your unaware of him. He is currently an outlaw. He used to be a useful asset for us during the war, he was one of Blister's elite soldiers. Even though he was a hybrid, he was more dangerous than most of us. When ever Blister came to visit Queen Coral, he was usually there. When he wasn't guarding her form us, he was out killing our enemies who got too close to shore. Sometimes he would go to other parts of the continent to hunt for other victims. He once killed one of Burn's generals when they were bathing on the western shores of the desert. He struck swiftly, brought the head all the way back to Queen Coral as a gift."

Was he just toying with me? Braveheart shuddered. He hated the ideas of that monster messing with him for sport. Next time, I'll give him everything I've got.

"Well thank you for chasing him away. He sounds like a real threat." Braveheart realized how dumb that sounded. He looked outside the cave to watch the waves lapping the shore. It was mesmerizing, and yet beneath the waves were several SeaWing guards keeping patrol. Ready to kill in an instant.

"May we be off now?" I asked kindly.

Tidepool nodded to him and motioned with her wing. "If you get stopped by any other patrols just tell them my name and they should understand. Don't get into any trouble." She nodded to the two of them. A hint of friendliness shown in her eyes.

He thanked her and exited the cave wit Trident beside him. She brushed his wing with her before taking flight and he followed right behind her. They flew on for several minutes back to the mainland. It wasn't far. Braveheart noticed Trident's unease and he moved up to brush her wing tip with his to get her attention.

"I guess its still dangerous in the world." She said with a pained expression. "I was hoping we could start exploring."

"Hey, we still can." He smiled to her. "Remember how you wanted to explore the rain forest. We can be free, we don't have to worry about some criminal psychopath. Well, we do, but he's just one dragon. Now we know we have to be careful, and I think that's more than enough."

"Yeah, I do want to check out the rain forest. I have heard the new Queen is pretty nice." Trident began to look happier.

"Pretty young if you ask me." Braveheart half mumbled. They heard of the story of one of the Dragonets of Destiny becoming the queen of the RainWings, but she was younger than he was and he found it hard to believe she would be a good queen for long.
