Half of STAR Labs was gone. Incinerated. Turned to dust.

The bomb was so powerful that it caused millions of dollars in collateral damage to the Labs.

"Oh, no!" Silas yelled as he and Elinore began looking through the rubble for their son.

"Victor?!" Elinore yelled as she sobbed. "Victor!"

Silas tried to keep himself as quiet and reserved as he could. That is the husband's job. To be strong when your wife can not be.

"Dad..."

Victor and Elinore heard an extremely faint voice.

"Mom..."

"I heard it again!" Elinore said hysterically. "Victor?!"

"Over here..."

They ran towards the voice and saw their son. It wasn't all of their son though.

They removed the rubble off of him and had a horrifying realisation.

He was missing both of his arms and legs.

"Dad. DAD!" Victor yelled as he shook violently in pain and fright. "I don't have my arms. I don't have my legs!"

"Oh, Victor!" Elinore yelled as she sobbed and stared in horror at their son.

There was a lot of irreparable gashes and bloody wounds in his chest and face as well.

"C'mere, Vic." Silas said as he picked up his armless, legless son and ran down a damaged hallway.

His wife followed.

"Elinore, get the Med Bay ready!" Silas yelled.

"O- o- okay!" A hysterical Elinore replied as she tried to refrain from passing out.

Elinore ran before then and opened up the STAR Labs Med Bay doors.

Silas ran through the doors carrying their son and Elinore shut the door behind her.

"Quick!" Silas yelled. "Get me gloves and a lab coat!"

"Okay!" Elinore ran and got his husband a pair of disposable gloves and a lab coat.

"Get him under!" Silas yelled as Elinore ran to the anesthesia and put the mask over Victor's mouth and nose.

The mask helped Victor breathe as well as put him to sleep while they work.

Silas began with trying to contain the bleeding from the arm and leg sockets. Luckily, the explosion burned him so bad there was not a lot of bleeding.

Elinore kept an eye on the anesthesia levels and Victor's vitals: his heartbeat, blood pressure, among other things.

"In starting with the prosthetics." Silas added.

"Okay. Go ahead." A slightly calmed down Elinore replied.

Silas was using an incredibly advanced type of metal that was made and available only at STAR Labs.

Silas already had the arms and legs made prior to the accident thanks to the Prosthetic Program at STAR Labs.

Silas attached the arms and legs with little-to-no problems.

The trouble came from the chest.

Victor's chest was irreparable and damaged beyond saving.

"What are you going to do?" Elinore asked.

"I'll have to remove his chest." Silas said somberly.

"What?!" Elinore asked loudly. "How?! You can't just do that! He won't live!"

"This is the best chance we have, Elinore!" Silas yelled angrily. "I can create an artificial heart. The only thing in his body that will be biological will be half of his head! That's the only part that will need blood. I've been working on him for 17 hours, Elinore. Trust me."

"I trust you, Silas. But I don't agree with this." Elinore replied as she sat back down and continued to monitor his vitals.

Silas carefully took Victor's head and neck away from his chest, but kept all of the arteries and veins leading to the heart.

Silas created an artificial heart made of the same metal and inserted it into the new metallic chest. He then attached all of the veins and arteries back to Victor's brain and head and his new heart.

Silas was almost done.
